From the art deco styling one can interpert that this design was from the late 1930's. All the styling was to make it look more "automobile-like" and was very expensive for a manufacturer known for inexpensive.

Your moniker should be Cub4jets....... :)

Piper J-4 Cub Coupe ?

Aviate1138 - my career spanned from Cubs to jets.
Evansb - I've wondered where you've been. Either off for the holidays or the cold has gotten to you? Yes, the Piper J4 Cub Coupe. Piper's attempt at an "upscale" small airplane with an art deco interior with side by side seating. While the design was successful, it was the most expensive "Cub" to build due to compound curves and "fancy" interior. The last J4 was produced on December 11, 1941. Over to you, evansb. C2j |
Thank you. Beautiful panel on that Piper! Weather is okay today, 0C at the airport, -5C with the wind chill factor, (winds are westerly gusting to 18kts). +2C on my south-facing deck though, so I just might BBQ tonight..
Here is the next mystery cockpit: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...E_FOR_2012.jpg |
Cubs2jets " Aviate1138 - my career spanned from Cubs to jets."
C2J - sorry my attempt at subtlety didn't come off did it? "Not calling the tune....." He who pays the Piper calls the tune....... "Cub4jets." The J4 Cub was my hint. Onwards and Upwards, Happy New Year all Cockpiteers |
The Doolittle 'Blind Flying" Consolidated NY-2 perhaps?
|
Yes, the Consolidated NY-2 Husky. You have control.

aviate1138,
No need to apologise, I was just explaining my username. I got both of your "hints", but I didn't count. May 2013 be a happy new year for all... C2j |
Thanks C2j.
Not an unused cockpit on my horizon at present. Open House. Prosperous New Year all. |
Here's one not on Mel's list...

In Russian there are big notices saying do not open these doors in flight!

Noyade,
I'd wager that it is one of Richard's designs, but I can't find a picture to validate. C2j |
Richard's designs The chief designer was from Piper. The chief engineer from Chance-Vought LTV. There was a retractable undercarriage version and a few years later, a fixed gear one. This is the fixed gear cockpit. Cheers. |

Holly crap! That guy in the left seat looks exactly like my identical twin brother (if I had one).
|
(if I had one) Probably a cold-case to track him down now, but I can tell you what he was flying in 1992...if you like? |
This is a perplexing challenge... but I, for one, am not ready for an answer yet.
May I ask, was there any Lopresti involvement? |
G'day TheiC.
No, Mr Lopresti was not involved, but hey, he had an interesting career... Roy LoPresti - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Don't know who Brian's twin is, but he keeps popping up when these aircraft are featured in old magazines...here he is again, with a new squeeze on the right and in the retractable undercarriage version... http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/432/pceh.jpg |
