French?

Could it be a Supermarine 508/529?
|
Could be a Saab J-29 ?
|
F-101 Voodoo?
|
You're all in roughly the right time frame, but this is mainland European, and operated by a number of nations.
|
Fiat G-91?
|
Spot on Ali Qadoo, an aircraft I've always found pretty. It won the NATO Lightweight Strike Fighter competition of 1953, meeting some pretty stringent demands in the process, used by Germany, Greece, Italy and Portugal over 700 built. A further development was replacing the single Orpheus turbo jet with a pair of GE J85 reheated engines in a slightly refined airframe.
Just out of interest, does anybody else know of a similar in service evolution i.e. jet single to twin engine design? |
Away from home, armed only with my trusty laptop. Open house.

Not perchance the Currie Wot?
'866' |
Wot? What? Not a bad guess, but no.
|
Over 12hrs without a bite? Just to be helpful, ASW28-866 was in the right part of the world and the correct wing count.
|
Mate, you can go days without a bite (check out the Lakota posts #4511-4521):p
Anyway, I'll go for Spartan Three Seater |
Alright I'll go again...Isaac's fury?\
'866' |
Kitbag - 2 seats too many.
ASW28 - not the mini-Fury (although there was one parked only 50 yards from the mystery cockpit). |
Complete guess now....a 'Ragwing'?
'866' |
I didnt know there was a specific type called 'Ragwing'. I must look it up.
Anyway, no. There are 25 of the challenge type on the CAA register, so it isn't exceedingly uncommon. |
Mignet pou-du-ciel ?
|
FRED says poo to the Flea.
|
I suppose, Bri, you may have been misled by 'the right number of wings'. And I'm 99% sure, although I haven't looked, that there aren't 25 Mignet Fleas on the G-INFO register.
There are, however 25 FREDs, including this one http://i53.tinypic.com/vyrsqf.jpg so I guess VX275 has control |
I feel I have to call foul on this.
How can the right number of wings in relation to a biplane (Currie Wot) suddenly become a parasol monoplane? Answers on a post card |
This postcard says it looks like a biplane that has lost a pair of wings......
|
Mea culpa
I took so many pics at Sywell last weekend I mixed up my aircraft and panels, and only realised my error after posting the pic of G-ORAS. The panel was indeed FRED, and profuse apologies for misleading the experts. Hangs head in shame. I hope VX can do better........... |
Sorry guys I've never managed the trick of posting photos here so OPEN HOUSE.
PM me if you feel you could help as I do have a few cockpits to offer. |
VX275 - check your PMs.
|
Is there a next challenge?
Since VX appears to have gone into hiding, does that make it open house?
|
Given that nearly a week has gone by, I would say YES.

Next
I'll give it a try with this one :

A lot of levers blondie has to concentrate on...
And wait untill I'll post her picture, it was a breathtaking flight in more than one way http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/HPIM0220.jpg |
Must be a `Zeppelin` of some sort ...
|
well Sycamore, the 'lighter than air' clue might be in the right direction, judging from this picture :
http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...x/HPIM0210.jpg but with all these clues, the winning answer must be pretty specific |
to soothe the pain of all your brain crunching to find the correct answer...
aaaaaaahhh, http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...HPIM0229-1.jpg |
How about an ATG AT-10 ?
|
Nope
Not an AT-10, look closer at the EFIS-EICAS, that will tell you why it can't be the AT-10 ;) |
ZLT Zeppelin LZ N07-100 ?
|
|
evansb, :ok:
