So that is not a new development... but the reason provided in the UKAR thread back then was 'hangarage withdrawn'.
Could be why the two P-51's owned by US owners, Hun Hunter and Berlin Express have also departed Duxford recently, and I believe have gone to a new 'home' base in Europe.
The end of Flying Legends effectively, may also be a factor that move as well.

What gets the masses to visit Duxford, as anyone who's lived nearby and sat in the traffic jams will testify, is an airshow on a sunny weekend.

It's not peering at yet another Spitfire in pieces through a tiny gap in the polythene sheeting.

I agree with Muddy Paws that some local museums can be really interesting. One such is the town museum in Ricmond,Yorkshire which has no aviation content but is a gem of it's kind. When I congratulated one of the young musum attendants on the clarity of the "data boards", she informed me that current thinking is that interest will only be maintained if it's a fairly large font and has no more than 180 words. Just a thought about modern practice in museums.

Was there about 2 weeks ago for a rummage through the open DAS exhibits, and with the sunshine, remember when this happens, there were several aircraft up for the experience, and I had a great day out While SWIMBO was away.
However I don't know how to describe the actual area but to the right of the cafe area (1) and all the way to hangar 2 there is a huge area being developed for a children's play area....

Exactly - the pressure to find new land for building near Cambridge is unbelievable. There are herds of councillors, research companies, investors, builders, locals who would develop it in a second given the chance

Until a couple of years ago we lived in a small village the other side of Cambridge from Duxford. About 5 years back, the local council asked the local landowners if any of them would be interested in selling their land for building.
Every scrap of land within the parish was offered. Wonder why?
