Which Aerodrome Mk IV
Enlarging the picture that looks like quite a smart terminal - maybe a significant regional airport? Looks like Europe to me??

Apologies for the slow reply, although there's been some interesting discussion. None of it correct, unfortunately, except the fact that it is in Europe (although not the Eastern variety, and 'significant regional' wouldn't really do justice to this airfield).
As to the route, I had just taken off from this airfield en-route to the UK on a scheduled service
At least I've ruled out a few places

Is it Germany as per Sycamore's question?

Go North, young man
Thanks for the slope-roofed shed, thnarg. Could it also be that the lighting gantries have a look about them that's particular to this neck of the woods?

I'm surprised this has lasted so long! More explicit clues & info at 1800BST tomorrow, as I'll be skulking around on a Northumberland hilltop during the day.
An oily part of the world, although maybe not in the immediate neighbourhood. I think SLB might have travelled through this airport.

"Oily" in Europe = Scotland, Norway, Denmark .
Luftwaffe WW2 suggest Norway or Denmark
But the reference to SLB suggests the Netherlands..............

Oslo Gardermoen.
Clever to show only half of the airport!
Indeed I have travelled once through Oslo but that was before my offshore days.
2002 or thereabouts.
Offshore days are now already a few years behind me.
I switched to Naval ships.
