Because I never enjoyed walking or strenuous activity!

Don't really have an answer to that question, I just know I wanted to be a pilot as long as I can remember. Plus being born into it, father was an Air Force pilot and I was raised on Air Force bases.

So I was surrounded by aircraft all of my early life.

Besides that, it beat the hell out of working for a living.

But I have always had a sneaking suspicion that in order to have written that line, old Leonardo must have made some sort of flight....................

Leonardo certainly made flights of imagination.

Too lazy to work; too frightened to steal; so I became a pilot.

Why do people want to sail yachts or race cars? Different strokes for different folks. I just like flying. Never wondered why or tried to analyse it, I do it because I want to.

I learned to fly and became an airline captain because the only other job that I wanted was already filled…

I myself wanted to be a pilot because I couldn't tolerate the pain of sitting in a room and study to be in college for a different kind of degree.

Rather I chose to be in controls of an airplane and look outside and enjoy the view while it's still as good as studying.

It's depressing how few brothels need piano players these days isn't it.

Especially those that pay you in kind.

Be careful what you wish for!

Ghengis and FED

The great Classical (Romantic to be more precise) composer Johannes Brahms, born Hamburg 1833, was, by the time he was ten years old, (to bring money into the family), playing the piano in waterfront dives and bordellos. This left psychic scars. All his life he was uncomfortable with virtuous women, only capable of sex with prostitutes. Brahms later in life told a friend about some of his experiences. "That was my first impression of women. And you expect me to honour them as you do!".

To echo the query on the Mil site, what is a "registered user", and why can we not access their profile?

All vehicles have 6 degrees of freedom and in aeroplanes you can control four of them (pitch rate, roll rate, yaw rate and forward velocity). There are very few vehicles in which you can do this and in the others that you can, such as submarines, the rates and velocities that you can generate are very low. Flying an aeroplane is all about a man controlling a machine, and a machine in which you can generate a combination of higher rates and velocities than in any other vehicle. That is why I fly.

I became a pilot because I got p*ssed off with shovelling cow sh*t! At the age of 14 I joined the school's Young Farmers Club thinking I would have the chance to look after a calf, however I didn't come from a farming background, so I was relegated to cleaning out cow stalls. I resigned and join the Combined Cadet Force (RAF section). The first summer camp was at RAF Pembroke Dock where I flew in a Sunderland every day. I was hooked on flying and three years later I joined the RAF as a U/T pilot - the rest is history.

It was an itch that I could not resist. I was hooked on aircraft flight as a small child, and knew that I would somehow learn to fly.
First gliding with the Air Cadets, then powered (PPL) then more gliding.
I had not much choice in the process - it was an addiction that needed to be fed.
Addiction now under control.

In helicopters you can do all of them plus; backwards, vertical velocity and turns on the spot. You plank drivers don't know what you are missing.

A little vertical bounce never hurt anyone in a helicopter! Can't always say the same in a plank.
