Anyone any idea over how long it will be before they release any more info ?
The other thing I noticed is two people had a bit of an argument
over who had the right to dig them up. Anyone expand on what
that was all about as I didn't recognise the second name.

All this reminds me rather horribly of all the nutcases who were trotted out and treated honourably for once by the media when the wreck of the Titanic was (re)discovered. The absurd theories about how it was going to be refloated abounded but no matter how laughable they were all taken seriously by mainstream tv programs & the press.

More unexpected buried military assets here - this hoard would solve the UK Forces manpower shortage at a stroke. Dig 'em up quick, dust 'em down and pack 'em off to the 'stan!
Just hope they were painted in oily grease - or was it greasy oil before they were buried..."Woad", I think they called it?
Course they're OK - they'll be in perfect condition, I mean, it stands to reason, doesn't it?
All we need is a credulous Russian who makes comparisons between lightweight chariots and trebuchets to pay for it.
ps. That electric device might not be a such good idea, just stand at the bottom of Senlac Hill, look at the grass and shout loudly, "Is there anybody there?"

And the connection between Burmese Spitfires and Saxon warriors? Dig 'em up and all you'll get is archaeology. That's guaranteed. If they were ever even there in the first place...and that isn't.

They should shoot a TV documentary about this and do some live reporting from the first finding and first crate opening!

Does anyone really believe they will find something.
As I said in the other thread, it really does sound
like some scam to me, especially as someone else
pointed out the CGI generated image of the box
in the ground with RAF printed on it !!!

When they've dug up a crate and it is opened and the contents are photographed and an independent, Spitfire export confirms the find & when thte corrupt Myanmar government is paid off and the pieces are shipped out & in the UK and they are confirmed again to be original Spitfires...

The Burma Spitfire Dig - Peter Arnold will be in Burma for the dig and will be able to provide us with up to the minute news on progress of this much-anticipated event in the Spitfire world.
Yes. I really hope they do find Spitfires. I'm just a tad dubious that if they were there that they could survive for so long. But if they are found it will be wonderful.
But a couple of Hurricanes, a Beaufighter......would be nice too.

On a serious note, why out of some 20 odd thousand aircraft made, is there only so few remaining? Yes a lot were shot down but what about the rest?
