Well, 'tiz an Arrow not a Knight, but I guess that's what safetypee meant; should have read his own link

So do I mate, but there's quite lot to choose from! Also, for many, cropping is easier than good silhouetting!!

Seeing as it's my first free Sunday for a while and a lot of the regulars are away, I may as well keep things ticking over with another easy one!

Just the engine, or what it flew in or maybe should have powered to a place in history!!

For the moment, yes and yes

Edit: YES again , I said it would be easy!!

The W.2B/700 was to be used in the Miles M.52 supersonic research aircraft. In order to achieve the thrust required for supersonic flight, a version of the engine was planned with a turbine-driven "augmenter" fan(an early form of turbofan) supplying air to a "reheat jetpipe" or afterburner. The augmenter was to be mounted behind the engine, drawing fresh air through ducts surrounding the engine.
Should have broken the sound barrier if Ministerial short-sightedness and cold-feet hadn't prevailed (plus it had an all flying tail too) !!

Strewth!! Is that the main efflux mate? In the tail?

Doesn't exixt mate!
I knew you'd say that when I didn't put it in quotation marks, but it was a popular phrase in that era!

Hmm, had a feeling it wouldn't be; so are these "gargoyles" on the wing, how many are there and do they each serve a single engine? Are those vanes fixed or moveable?
