You've got it - Livingstone Airport, Northern Rhodesia - sorry for not telling you when you were in the correct country, but there aren't a huge number of airports in the region so it would have been too easy.
I was thinking more of the River Zambezi being the connection - especially as the Kariba Dam hadn't been built in 1950

Countryside looks not unlike the Spanish Costas, but not sure about the elevated approach lights & the high ground inland would have been closer?
