A little diversion........
Whe I first saw the picture I thought it might be RAF Kallang, Singapore, but then realised the 'tower' was too high but was sure it was Far East post-war. Whilst looking at some of the Indian airfields around Calcutta I found this -
I commend it, despite the length, for the historical info and the story of the death of the only Fighter Command pilot to be awarded the VC in the BoB

Still very much operational.. also one of those Indian loan words that entered the English language is associated with this spot
24 hours up - dook got it with Jodhpur - the local Maharaja was a big force in developing flying in India both pre & post war...
Is the tower still there or has it been replaced? - a lot of Spanish airports have had substantial upgrades
are we near the sea?? - say within 20 kms?
