But he said "You might want to plan your fuel a bit better than simply South Pole"
For what it's worth, I think it's Argentinian Marambio Base, which is over 1500 nm from the South Pole and the Amundsen-Scott Base is over 700 nm away.

ahhh - geographical imprecision
Chevron said "South Pole" and Bear said "yes"
I guess Chevron meant The South Pole and Bear meant Antarctica.... all zebras have 4 legs but not all 4 legged animals are zebras.........
And post #16793 shows hills in the back ground - and its a VERY long way from Amundsen-Scott to a rock...................

Consider the size of Italia compared with Antarctica.
If you posted an airfield in Italy and I said "Italy" you would say yes, but you wouldn't give me a win would you.
I would have to say which airfield it was.

But South Pole is a definite location - an absolute point in fact (one of four on the Earth's surface as my Geography Master used to point out............) - and I doubt 1 person in a million ever refers to a stretch of ice as the "Jack F. Paulus Skiway" - even down there
I read Chevrons post as THE SOUTH POLE - not Antarctica
It's up to Bear anyway as it's his/her challenge...................

Dook asked if it was one of the poles ( as a region)
I thought Chevron by asking if it would the South Pole in order to reduce the search area by 50%.
(as no airbase name was given)
If the challenge had been about Luxembourg I would have accepted Luxembourg as a correct answer as they only have one airport (of which I am aware)
It is indeed Marambio as Dook stated.
The only non ice strip on the South Pole
dook has control again
(and I myself, appreciate that you give others some time to come up with their own answer.
Although I can also see that others would be annoyed that you show to have more time to spent as them)

I'll take advantage of dook's OH.
This one is worthy of a caption: "Chief, can you take a look? I'm getting full power, but she won't get airborne!"

Thank you dook. Have a chew on this one, folks... I'm pretty sure someone here will know this airfield so I'll initially just respons yes / no to airfield names. If it's still here by last thing tonight, I'll start dishing clues out.
Edit: I42 beat me to it by a few seconds. Will keep my challenge for next time...

Yeah but nah!
Head in an antipodal direction.

Not Mascot. What’s special about VH-UPV?
I left an unintentional clue in the picture.
