I think the hill is Castel d'Erice, just outside Trapani
I think there are two airfields @ 38 00 52 88 N 12 35 07 11E or a bit south @ 38 00 15 85N 12 34 53 93E. Not sure of their names.
I think it is the northernmost one as the background fits almost exactly
update: well I've found the same image and it states that it is at Trapani Milo (the southermost airfield) , but the image below it shows the hill in the background - which I think is too far away.

It is Trapani-Milo, if you google street view from the road in the middle of the old runway near 38°00'21"N012°34'54"E you can see the same view of Monte Erice.
Nvubu has it, over to you.

SH good challenge.
I've gone to that location and I still think the poportion is wrong for it to be from there - the background starts to rise too soon. Streetview from 38°00'56.22" N 12°35'12.54" E and the propotion is about right - at least I've learnt how to copy a location
Here's the next challenge. Should be fairly easy.

It's West for anyone who was going to guess South.
I was just suprised to see helicopter's in WWII, I had thought that they were developed just after the war.
I'll post some more Which Aerodrome featuring helicopters next time around. Here's one to be getting on with - no aerodrome so I couldn't use it, but I think it's a great shot.
Over to you Noyade.

You're too kind mate.
Open house.
Pretty sure I saw that photo (your challenge) in an article on the R-4. And yes, it did a superb job in WWII....but not sure I'd trust the early choppers like that fella above.
