Sea Vixen help needed
I'm trying to draw up plans for a large-ish scale r/c model of the Sea Vixen but I'm having great difficulty in finding details of the fuselage and boom cross sections at regular intervals so I can get the complex shape right. I've even tried the DH museum with no luck. Has anyone on here got access to such data?

Couldn't you get the idea from an airfix type model ?
Probably a bit far for you but there's a real one outside at Tangmere, doubt they'd let you climb all over it but would be as helpful as reasonably possible ( worth a call 1st if going ).
Should be an interesting sight in the sky.

Thanks Load Toad, I'd never have thought of using Google without you help How did you think I hadn't already spent hours doing just that? Idiot.
I have lots of three views, hundreds of detailed photos and an invite to climb all over one. I do always get a plastic kit for reference when I scratch build but al the current ones are inaccurate however I will be getting the new Airfix one in a few weeks when it's out
I've also got details on the way of a book that I don't currently have that has detailed cross sections in.

Matt,
I remember a "review" of the so called revised Frog Sea Vixen by Revel.
The Reviewer had to sand a heck of a lot off the booms.
I think that "Aviation News" did some "reasonable" 3 views and sections. Failing that, have you tried the old DH110 [Jetex] by KielKraft? It may be of help.

Matt,
Suggest you get the WARPAINT A4 softback book on the Sea Vixen for modellers. It has scale plans inside that would be very useful
Aviation Book Series - Warpaint

You could try Alec Cornish-Trestrail (Google search gives some details). He designed and built a very good R/C version about 20 years ago. Gas turbine powered and flew (by Paul Leighton) VERY impressively. I seem to remember that he said that he had problems similar to your query re. the boom cross section. If you make contact, please pass best wishes from "Transmitter Control"
