Don't go too far away!!
To Recap and update; an early '40's project, one of many within the same project numeration (and at first glance the Hawker assumption seems likely, although totally false), none were built.
Good luck

Not an FW, but you're getting warmer now. A single jet engine in this variant (there was a twin), but maybe not quite what you think!
An inventor from Munich collaborated with a famous aircraft manufacturer on these projects and they were all German!

Just confused - should probably eat something (or drink).... Have been looking at SAAB J 29 Tunnan (Barrel) pre-history, bur somehow that does not tie up fully with the clues.

Reg, see my edit above, it should help!
If you want even more confusion; ask and I will give you a "literal" clue that will give you the manufacturer and the inventor's names, but that really would be fishing

Well Reg, you've got the manufacturer, if you take a "literal" knife away from them, you'll have the Munich inventor who worked with them, and his work is a big clue to these projects!
Strangely enough the Hawker projects you mentioned were closer in a way than the P.1101 !! I hope that's not too confusing , no really, I do

G'day Mr Stig!
Can you tell us what this aircraft was?!
Is your silhouette depicted on the Luft 46' site? Can't seem to find it there?
a spin off of this project did evolve into a small fighter that was flown, but it didn't enter service.

G'day Graeme,
The Challenge aircraft is on Luft'46; but as Artwork and not on the Messerschmitt page.
A simple Goggle with the clues given to establish the inventor's work and part of this project, will find the Artwork (of this aircraft but not necessarily the same image) with another Goggle with this invention and the manufacturer!
The spin-off aircraft was another Messerschmitt and is also not shown on the Messerschmitt page but it is on Aviastar.
