Thanks evansb. Unless I am much mistaken , your confirmatory photo is of one of the Portugese IIID's- apparently Lusitania . That tower on the right is the Torre de Belem (Bethlehem tower) and is very close to where there is now a full scale metal representation of the aeroplane. It is only a couple of kms from the Maritime Museum in Lisbon, where the last original Fairey IIID in the world is beautifully preserved. There is also incidentally a replica IIID in the Portugese Air Force museum.

As it would appear that Sycamore has indeed passed on this one, then here's my latest challenge.....

Very like a fixed undercarriage version of the Nakajima 12. So, perhaps a Nakajima 11 or 13?

Hi Dick,
It's not, but thinking BMW has put you onto the right continent for both the engine ( like BMW an element of P&W influence) and the airframe.

Very Well done again S'land !!!
I thought I was using live ammunition this time.
It has a strange sort of Vultee Vibrator /Japanese TORA TORA TORA film type look. Then you look at the cowling.
As you correctly found out it was , in fact a Bulgarian light bomber ( with a Fiat A.74 two row radial) . The only WW2 indigenous Bulgarian combat aircraft to get into production .
Bulgaria declaring herself "neutral", she was promptly invaded by the Russians and the government capitulated before the D.A.R. 10 could enter combat. Probably just as well.
You have control.

Thanks RETDPI, I have been away on business for the last few days so have not had a chance to look at what has been happening on ******. What a busy lot you all have been.

Keeping with the rotary theme, here is the next challenge.
