Thanks evansb. Unless I am much mistaken , your confirmatory photo is of one of the Portugese IIID's- apparently
Lusitania . That tower on the right is the Torre de Belem (Bethlehem tower) and is very close to where there is now a full scale metal representation of the aeroplane. It is only a couple of kms from the Maritime Museum in Lisbon, where the last original Fairey IIID in the world is beautifully preserved. There is also incidentally a replica IIID in the Portugese Air Force museum.
As it would appear that Sycamore has indeed passed on this one, then here's my latest challenge.....
