G-APSA. British Eagle
. . . . Would be forever grateful to any-one who can let me have a few high resolution pictures of Air Atlantique's DC6 in her new and stunning livery of British Eagle Airways. Hoping to use one as a desk-top wallpaper of those great, long lost times . . . . If you can oblige, pm please....

What is the reason for the British Eagle livery ? Is there a film being done ?
Any knowledge of the times in/out of the DC6 coming to the London City Airport open day next month ? It will be a spectacular arrival and departure. One of those photos above almost looks like they are practicing the steep descent !

I seem to recall from the "good old days" at Miami, DC6s tend to approach at this attitude.
As for the reason why British Eagle, I believe it's their 50th anniversary this year - might be wrong, but hey, what an iconic scheme - just a shame there isn't an airworthy Britannia that could have been done up in Eagle colours as well.
Ahh, wishful thinking!! (I know 'CF is destined for Eagle scheme at LPL, but can't imagine her ever flying!).

Moondance - top stuff, many thanks for your help. What a great set of shots. One of the reasons for my interest, apart from my 37 years in aviation, is me and my mate used to cycle to Southend Airport early sixties from Leigh On Sea, threw the bikes in the grass next to the church at the end of the runway and sat all day plane spotting. I seem to recall there was also a bit of a public access boneyard inside the airport perimeter with the wrecks of old Vikings, Proctors, DC propliners, Bristol Freighters and the like, all mixed in with the stink of rotting canvas and aluminium - oh great days. Again thanks, mail on the way . . .

Hi Terry,
Here are a couple more taken at Biggin. G-APSA was originally with British Eagle in 1959.
For more info check out this link to the DC6 team.
