Pedantic old duffer that I am. Does anyone have the official airborne and landing times? I know I should have it to hand but when did she arrive at Bruntingthorpe. I am so happy I cant find a thing.
Well done everyone.
Be lucky

FACT, the BBC must be right.

A Vulcan Bomber based at RAF Waddington took off today in Leicestershire.

The first of three test flights from RAF Bruntingthopre.

And we wonder why we have problems with defence?

Be fair BEags and try not to be so cynical/bitter in every post you make - neither CAS or CINCAIR would have been invited (as I'm sure neither were any of the Armed Forces Ministers). It is a private venture after all is it not? Surprised you weren't there mind ....

It wasn't an RAF day, but Harry Staish from Waddo was there and did a v good job talking up the project on Sky TV.

As for the BBC misnaming of the locations, I believe the media were asked not to name Bruntingthorpe in reports, to stave off the hoardes.

VP.

The_AvgasDinosaur

Takeoff was 1227, a/c departed circuit, flew around over the Fenland / market Deeping area in figure 8 patterns, then returned, overshot and landed at 1301.

Which Victor?

The one at Bruntingthorpe, probably. It was doing taxi runs a couple of years ago. (XM715)

For those without Sky access, here is the clip that they have just shown.

Hopefully, they'll cover the event in more detail later. If they do, I'll upload it accordingly...

Keep hearing sky girlie say "She's back!" look up thinking she's talking about the Mighty Vulc but no, she keeps rattling on about Benazir Bhutto!

Our girl has been away longer!!! Should take priority!

Oh, and Sky really are making a (standard) pig's ear of this: they're now saying it was retired from service in 1984.

Great sight and well done to the whole team who made this happen. Must admit I had my doubts.

The press coverage was awful. At least Sky had a go, but Geoff Mead is one smug mother, and the wobbly camera work was even worse. To cut away before the landing was ridiculous.
