RAF at Zaventem 1944/5

Hi all

Can anyone point me in the direction of info/photos regarding this? My wifes grandfather was a radar tekkie with the Mitchells of 139 Wing and I'm trying to find info for him.

2 events stand out for him - siting on the karzi whilst the airfield was attacked by the Luftwaffe near New Year 1945 (Battle of the Bulge start?) and a US B24 crashing on take off full of servicemen and women returning to the UK/US.

Any info on anything to do with the RAF at Zaventem much appreciated!

Ta!

Operation 'Bodenplatte'

A quick Google search for Operation Bodenplatte throws up links, as might a search for Melsbroek airfield, also known as B58, near Zaventem.
