U.S. Naval Aviation Operations Report

This is from THE HOOK, Winter 2003, http://www.tailhook.net/images/000ColorLogo.jpg

"After making an emergency landing on 28 January 1922 at Saut d'Ear Pass, Haiti, CAPT Paige USMC of Headquarters 4th Air Squadron, repaied his JN Biplane and made preperations to continue to Hinche San Michel.

He had several natives hold the plane while he started the engine by hand-swinging the propeller. As soon as the engine started, the natives let go and ran away, leaving CAPT Paige to persue his plane down the field and mount it on the run."

(U.S. Naval Aviation Operations Report for week ending 11 Feb. 1922.)
