How long did they take to come up that name? Was Bogan and Crikey already taken?
Is that seriously the airline name? |
Most definitely is the airline's name.
The first two airframes are to be named Bonza Sheila and Bonza Bloke. Apparently they will be progressively supplemented by Bonza Dog, Bonza Weekend, Bonza Meat Pie and Bonza Time. Management are still to submit for board approval Bonza Holiday and Bonza Mate. There must be others I'd imagine? |
Bonza(i) Profits!
|
Watch this space, this isn’t the last of the new entrant announcements…
|
Roll up, roll up!
see the monkey ride the elephant…. see a man with three eyes…. see the strongest flea on earth….. watch the airline execs bash their heads against the bloody smear on the Australian airline brick wall…honk honk! |
When I saw Rick was involved - I thought, Ok, I hope he makes a go of this. He is not a fool, or scammer. I wish them all the best.

It’s like Brad, without the crowd funding. It has to be a wind up. Have they even applied for an AOC?. How long will that process take?
|
I believe the CEO will be King Bonza the charismatic and the COO will be Paul Bearer
|
Without flying into SY-ML and BBN who are they going to target exactly? Alliance pretty much have the small jet routes wrapped up in QLD and I’m sure QLDnrs would stay loyal to Alliance. Only other state that would sustain such a small network without using a major city would be WA, which is already wrapped up by QF, Network and VARA.

Tiger/OzJet/Strategic-AirAustralia - these things all likely have something in common with where this is headed. Maybe the Rex 73 crews will have some place to go when that operation is no more.
Good luck to them! more jobs and competition is never a bad thing |

Reminds me very much of a recent crowdfunded effort that failed to get off the ground... |
Good luck to them! more jobs and competition is never a bad thing Boom/bust is terrible for employees. Without a stable company to build up terms and conditions of employment you get constant erosion of remuneration. Virgin is a good example, people doing the same job for the 'reset' company on 25% less. Imagine how much in conditions Qantas employees would lose if it was reset, which is entirely possible if things keep going this way. And it's not just yearly salary losses, it's build up of entitlements sick leave, long service leave etc. You could have 3 months + of sick leave after ten years at one company which would cover you for many issues that arise as you get older, combined with LSL you could have 6 months to a year off on decent pay. If your company is reset every 5 years then you have maximum 5 years of leave build up, lucky if you can cover the gap between becoming sick and insurance kicking in, something to really consider as you age. I'd hazard a bet the entry level conditions at this startup are not going to be world beating packages. |
Boom/bust is terrible for employees. The market now and in 20 years is QF/VA/JQ. Virgin will become leaner, larger and more efficient, and will absorb the Tiger share. Going to be enough problems crewing the above three operators in the coming decades once generations changeover, let alone some other token operators in the mix. |
Sorry to say it but unless you are into houses or holes, Australia’s no entrepreneur’s paradise, aviation or otherwise.
This nation is so heavily overweight in resi-backed mortgages and mining that a lid is kept on any breakout development of other industries. Government knows this, in fact they drive it. Develop the regions with industry and you seriously risk an immediate fragmentation of the voter base and the power base. Develop regions that can independently trade with each other and sustain themselves and you weaken electoral control. Australia’s ‘time’ passed 20-30 years ago for industry or houses. A tiny, fledgling LCC start-up has no power at all to influence an economic evolution. We import skilled labour and choose not to home-grow our local expertise. We just love the money today, tomorrow never comes. Ask yourself why most inland regional cities barely grow their populations. And if you believe it’s a water thing, sorry it’s not, rice and cotton have boomed in the last 20 years in areas never ever thought possible for these crops. For mine, when you see a government genuinely implementing industry-growing policies that draw money away from at least the housing sector and drive it into industry it’s time to launch a new airline. Nations that export-grade manufacture and don’t base their prosperity on Ponzi-immigration schemes stand some chance of future whereupon the even distribution of wealth substantiates the true meaning and intent of the term we hear every day - Commonwealth. The economy becomes balanced and empowered and capable of industrial development. Airline entrepreneurs are then in with a chance. |
