QF 44 diverts to Broome
ok now I’m really surprised this hasn’t been raised in here before this......... Apparently the first time a wide body Jet ( A330 ) has landed in Broome? ( didn’t CX take an A340 in there a number of years ago or was that Port Hedland?? ) https://thewest.com.au/news/aviation...ng-b881198138z https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nat...534739ac256433 Edited......oops sorry Capn Bloggs |

I believe it was electrical and the cabin lights were actually flashing on and off. |
disco plane. According to Flight Aware it's still in BME.

At least it was only the lights this time! |
One generator, numerous messages, aural warnings that couldn’t be silenced and lastly no auto pilots. Not nice. |
Interesting, how long is it going to be kept there?

Since I made the original post I’ve heard some little info basically what was said above. Failure of ECMU 2 in a big way that took out a lot of AC and DC busses. Well handled as you’d expect from the boys and girls at QF.. |

The info I have which is basic, ECMU 2 failed, AC and DC busses went offline, lights flashed, ECAM’s cautioned, APU’s wouldn’t start, resets didn’t help, A/P wouldn’t work, many issues apparently that shouldn’t have happened with just an ECMU 2 fail. ECMU:- Electrical contactor and management unit. I can’t tell you anymore details I’m sorry as I don’t know, the crew faced a serious situation at midnight half way into their flight, then they landed successfully. Morno......I don’t work for QF and I’m sure we would all equally handle the situation. Why can’t I congratulate them on a successful outcome? |
Because ACMS in this day and age we must all pander to acknowledging that everyone is equal and if someone broadcasts a respectful comment to one ‘party’ that indicates bias and favouritism and further shows you are marginalising all others. We are are all equal in every single regard and those of us that are thin skinned will rise up and declare “hey you can’t say that”! FFS morno, give yourself an uppercut On another point ACMS you can say whatever you like. Im sure the crew involved would appreciate the compliment. |
On another point ACMS you can say whatever you like. Im sure the crew involved would appreciate the compliment. Broome at night in an A330 is not an exercise one undertakes for amusement. |

It’s been a while since I flew a bus....... But, from memory that’s a BIG ecam checklist and potential (no pun) issue. Well done to the crew. |
Disclaimer: Long time observer and not a pilot, first post. I was wondering how long it would take to surface on here. When they arrived early the other morning it sure as hell woke me up with a bang in Broome . A quick look on flight radar showed an A330 in a place it shouldn’t be . The track, altitude and speed graph was not the normal for an arrival into Broome to say the least .They spent quite a fair bit of time at the end of the runway stationary before taxiing off and parking up near the CHC hangar . It would be interesting to have seen the brakes after that landing. It’s been moved in the last day and is definitely a big bird for Broome . I take my hat off to the guys/girls on the flight deck for doing an awesome job and getting it down in one piece in some ass puckering conditions. I can’t wait to see it depart. |
