Reminds me of one night when I was involved in the old Singapore B747 swap and they were both 5 hours late. They weren't 'delayed', but 'retimed'. ( does this fix a slump in management kpi's?).
I'm assuming if the Melbourne one is delayed, then you might as well delay the Sydney one ?? |

Operating another A380 via Hong Kong would sure let a cat loose among the CX pigeons in the immediate and near future! The timings of the QF MEL-HKG A380 mean a six hour layover in SIN until QF1 departs for LHR. Better off taking the later QF A330 MEL-HKG and have just a 90 minute connection in SIN to QF1 |

Not necessarily - going via Singpaore is often more attractive than via Dubai for business or holiday reasons but If Qantas are offering a more expensive product on exactly the same route as Emirates then only poeple with airmiles will fly them. Routing via Singapore is a different offer. Lets face it Dubai is a dump unless you have business there |

Apologies for the thread drift, but I have a question after watching a documentary on Channel 5 called The Secret Life of Long-haul about a QF380 flight from LHR to DBX and SYD. Does QF slip crews in DBX?
It gave the impression there were only three pilots operating. Surely twenty one hours flight time, two sectors and 90 minutes on the ground in DBX is way over any flight time limits. Thank goodness I retired 20 years ago. |
QF have a crew change in DBX. Tech crew fly on to Oz after required rest, Cabin crew are LHR based and return to LHR after required rest.

Very welcome news for many of the A380 pilots, what was the name of that bar at Singapore they used to frequent for decades? I imagine the owner there will be very happy to see them back as well!
