no it was $1499 inc all charges except credit card fee (can avoid that by paying with bpay)
|
I'm far from fickle Ken. Very good reasons for my choice. The money I'm spending is keeping Australians in work :ok:

cnsnz
you're obviously not looking at mid DEC onwards departures. Probably NOV departures. >>>>> Its not just QF with the cheap seats VA ex AKL/LAX RT $999NZD DL ex AKL/JFC RT $1349 AKL/SFO RT $1249 all available via Flightcentre |
I agree with Ken - boycotting Qantas for Qantas Staff is really not helping (if that's your reason Jack).
|
They must have sold those 2 seats.Cheapest I can see around x-mas is $1285 one way. From Jan 17th it drops to $835 one way.
|
kelly, I'm open to suggestion, what action will force a change of CEO?
|
Don't they realise that boycotting Qantas serves to hurt the many thousands of loyal employees they claim to support. The public could care less about the loyal employees. QF intl died the day Joyce grounded the airline and stranded thousands of loyal customers all over the globe. |
If the business to LA is going that badly, how come they build a new multi million dollar business lounge ?
Los Angeles, USA: New multi-million dollar Qantas business lounge keeps chef Neil Perry busy |
because they have no operational experience in running an airline successfully -- so in the meantime, build lounges! (apparently they are successful at that)
Jetstar will make its money through muffins, and QANTAS will make money through its lounges. Whats that you say? Pure Genius? |
I refuse to travel Qantas while Joyce is CEO.
All this sort of attitude does is harm the long serving, loyal staff in the long run. In a few years time, Joyce will be gone regardless of whether you and I or anyone else make our travel plans based on who is the CEO. Do you chose your brand of biscuits based on who the CEO of Arnotts is? |
Can't offer a suggestion Jack but Virgin is being propped up by money from the Middle East. Your supporting them based on keeping Australians in jobs (if that's the deciding factor) is a good short term strategy but what of the long term?
|
If the airline is being so badly managed and money is being wasted why do people still put up with it?
I know Joyce is the CEO but surely he does not sign off on every single decision? There are numerous numbers of Manager etc within the group that must sit around a table and come to agreement on how the show is being run. Obviously the only way forward or to force change is to take and stand against those who make the decisions. Petitions to remove the CEO etc are a waste of time why not take him on at his own game if the staff all withdrew there labour and brought it to a standstill then surely someone would take notice? I do not work for QF and never have but have alot of colleagues that do I also know it is easy to have an opinion when it doesn't affect you. Good luck. |
wow shows the stupidity at QF with spending matters !!!
|
"JR" has a perfect right to chose whom he sees fit to travel with & for whatever reasons he sees fit to stand by. After all we ALL do the same concept daily, we shop around for the lowest fuel price for Eg & by NOT going to a more expensive fuel outlet are we hurting the guy on the cash register?
Free choice & competition, that's what it is all about & very few if any would be making daily choices for the cheapest products (inc airfares) based on whom it hurts employee wise. Buy Australian has merit for sure but with higher living expenses & less job security etc we shop for cheaper products world wide & in a sense it's like a dog chasing it's tail, an unfix-able situation the world over! Wmk2 |

How narrow minded , "VA being propped up by ME money" , what a factually incorrect statement. It's ok for QF to loose 1billion dollars trying to send VA broke over the last 18 months , then ask for money from the TAXPAYER or NY Stockbrokers , but no it's not ok for VA to get money from one of their cornerstone investors in the ME (One of 4 , the other 3 based on in Europe , Asia and the Pacific ) but no you didn't mention them did you doesn't suit your statement, please advise why this money is different to the others?? I'm interested to here.. Hope QF get and investment from Emirates and then all of you can canvas on this forum at QF must not accept any capital in any form from the ME, yes that's your logic right ??? because anything else makes no sense... QF = Australian Jobs just as VA = Australian Jobs |
because they have no operational experience in running an airline successfully -- so in the meantime, build lounges! (apparently they are successful at that) Not too successful, I think, and I believe that once again, they have frittered away shareholders money by being conned into spending too muh. |

Jack , the little Aussie Bleeder , just such an "Aussie"
What is it now Jack ? 2500 posts or something in three or four years, you are a true doyen of pprune Gee the dole must be paying great bucks these days that you can afford international travel Have you ever considered getting of your backside and actually getting some employment, yes I know the aviation/flying career didn't go so well for you |
1) you won't see the fares online, only via wholesalers
2) fares to USA are not one ways like over Tasman. Cheapest one way is virtually same as cheapest return. |
It's simply not the busiest time of year of the LAX route .. For bums on seats ... And especially not for revenue.
Majority of QFs pax during the year on the LAX rites are people travelling on business. They want flexibility and/or premium seats = higher fares = more revenue. These business travellers don't travel on the 'business shut down period' over Christmas .. In either direction.. So of course QF are gonna flog as many seats at whatever price just to fill the planes over this 'low bums on seat and low revenue period'. :\. Trust me I have done enough Christmas trips to LAX to know the difference in the type of pax and the number of bums on seats as compared to the rest of the year :ok: |
