I think the concept is awesome but it 'misses' on a few points.
1. Takes a LONG time to work out its a Qantas add as Tony pointed out. 2. It makes me miss home but it doesn't necessarily make me want to fly Qantas- the emotional connection just isn't there. 3. The idea that Qantas is part of your home is missing. This is perhaps a flow on from point 2. 4. Perhaps a tag of 'let us show you our home' would be good for overseas visitors too. Ie, connect Qantas to Australia so that if you're flying here you're 'missing out' on part of Australia if you don't fly with Qantas. Though it is great to see a return of QF marketing, the one just doesn't quit hit the mark. 7/10 for me. |
....... and at least it's a gazillion times better than that stupid ooohh, aaaahhhh, oooohhhhh crap that we had.

Ruprecht,
You've been on hold to ops then....:} |
Bring back the Kwantas Bear, that should make the Feels Like Home feel like home.
|
Me too that last one (ad) was ridiculous....this "feels like home" campaign does a nice job of pulling heart strings....but...not enough brand identification...
I know this Ad was lambasted by some Poms...but I thought it was an absolute cracker!!! It encapsulated a history and was almost never without an aircraft in the picture..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XozHLoqwp_4 ......that said I can understand why the Rat doesn't want pictures of aircraft in the ads, trying to be a virtual airline and all that.... |
Don't like it.
Should be an advert for a funeral service. |
Just another crap ad by Qantas. It will disappear in 6 months and not have the long lasting effect. Sorry to be pessimistic.
The team that decides on these 'emotional' adverts need to be completely independent from Australia and the airline to see if it actually has a touch. As someone who lives overseas now, if I choose to fly Qantas it is to support current staff, not management! Not as bad as the Mars Rover, or 'you are the reason we fly', but still not good enough to make me want to chose to fly Qantas. I can still have the home coming hugs when I get off the Emirates, Cathay or any other airline! |
I think this thread should be renamed, "Alans Happy now",
seeing as hes got rid of 5000 pesky employees, and stands to pick up 2.5 mil in bonuses, happy days for Alan! |

VH-Cheer Up.
I don't know it from a pilot's point of view, but as a passenger the VC10 was a great plane in which to fly. I was lucky, way back in 1968, to fly from London to Sydney in one. BOAC, of course then. The route was via New York, San Francisco, Honolulu and Nadi. Very quiet to fly in, but as the BOAC ad ran in those days "That's BOAC hush-power for you!" |
I can still remember the engine noise (whine) of the VC-10s that came through Darwin in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Impressive bird to watch on the ground at take-off and landing.
And were definitely noisier than a 727 or a Qantas 707 at take-off. Mike |
Wishful thinking I'm afraid.
You had me hopeful until I found the story you're aluding to here: AFR TV | Financial Review Sunday, Rear Window Why retire when you get paid a small fortune to play golf? |
|
I can see the piss being taken out of these ads "cityfail" style.
Or better still, Queensland Rail Etiquette-style :E :ok: Queensland Rail Etiquette Posters | Know Your Meme |
Do it as a team, and do it my way. (Sorry Billy, and Richie!)
Qantas marketing chief Tim McColl Jones resigns after 'feels like home' campaign launch |
