Happy - Not Likely!
Buried in the article Ferris posted is In mid-October, Joyce told The Australian Financial Review the airline remained on target to return its embattled international business to a break-even position by the 2014-15 financial year despite recent pressure on fares due to additional capacity entering the market. On December 5, Qantas dropped the real bombshell - first-half earnings would be down by as much as $300 million and a major capital expenditure and structural review would be undertaken.... (and)..... Standard & Poor's downgraded its debt to junk status. |
Crying poor is not enough. A full explanation is necessary Virgin got a big bucket of money. AJ was not happy. Canberra tells him to jump but maybe we can help a little bit. Waiting huge loss announcement as is Virgin. Qantas assets maybe sold. *Press starting to wake up that not all is well at Qantas and actually write negative articles.* Scorched earth policy mooted at Qantas on the back of said poor results. Ain't no conspiracy, just dumb and dumber at the helm Ngineer is spot on with his quote, interesting read, claiming $120mill pumped into Jet* Asia along with the share buyback shortly followed by a big profit warning. To me it looks like either the board were not paying attention to the cashflow, or something else was going on. It's the year of expiring EBA's and the Libs in power so anything is possible I guess (IMHO) All three companies are victims of structural change in their industries, although Coca Cola Amatil and Qantas are also guilty of poor strategic decisions that have undermined the profitability of key parts of their businesses. They still have the ability and the resources to clean up their mess. for those who missed it |
I noticed a Jetstar A330 parked at the Qantas terminal in Brisbane Friday evening- I didn't even know they came here.
Maybe that is a sign of more things to come for you guys? |
They still have the ability and the resources to clean up their mess. ‘a compact between unions, business and government,’ |
Re the A330 in BNE, it's one of the stolen generation awaiting a qantas refit
|
Probably not, but you make a laudable point Worthy.
Even Dick Glasson, former president of the doctor’s union, the AMA, who seems to have lost the by election for KRs old seat of Griffith, said during his campaign- “Mr Howes’ comments are sensible and sound. Whether you are an employee or an employer, we want the best outcome for everybody concerned.” |

Piggy Howes only gave that paper to drive Dolly Shorten crazy!!

JQ 330 @ BNE Dom
Does anyone know why it was parked on the bne dom terminal?
|
Dizzylizzy
If i had to guess (and I stress, only a guess) QF Maintain the A330 in the Brisbane Hangar on the East side of the field. If the aircraft was ferried to Brisbane it would have been parked at the Domestic terminal awaiting a tow to the Eastern side of the Airport. MC |
Jet cancer 330 in BNE.
Old mate up in Brisvegas tells me A330 was being towed and stowed to check for fitment/clearances on bay for when 330 goes domestic. McHale. |
Capt - QF already use the A330 domestically and there is already a bay(s?) fitted for the aircraft.
|
ASY68, they are planning to make more bays A330 capable (to be ready for the return of the stolen generation). Bay 22 will shrink to a B738 only bay with 23, 24 & 25 being widened for the A330. I believe that two bays on the satellite will also take the big winged widebody.

Seems that Alan is happy after all. From the latest company email:
Video message from Alan Joyce - Towards Half Year In this video update, Alan Joyce talks about some of our great achievements from the last few months and how they show our strength as an airline. He also talks about the speculation surrounding Qantas, clarifies some rumours about the structural review and the guiding principles behind the tough decisions we’ll need to make to build a stronger Qantas Group for future. I am not sure what our great achievements from the last few months might be, apart from a credit downgrade, profit downgrade, and a total absence of anything resembling leadership. I'd watch the video to see if there's anything else, but sadly I don't have a strong stomach. |
He also has his Jetstar described as amaaaaaaaazing of course
|
He also has his Jetstar described as amaaaaaaaazing of course And a very cunning plan for global domination by stealthily tieing up all the parking spots at every major airport around the world with NON-FLYING AIRCRAFT. I mean, even Blackadder couldn't come up with a plan that amaaaaaazing!!! |
No not Blackadder,
it's a plan Baldrick would come up with. |
something else going on
Ngineer,
Who benefitted most from the share buy-back? Especially seeing it was money that should not have gone out the door := := := SN, I think Justice Buchanan couldn't quite bring himself to describe their ethics as ammmaaa... no, neither can I |
Fresh off the tech crew rumour mill, MEL-DXB-LHR will be changing to MEL-SIN-LHR.
And the SYD-DFW will go to A380. Not sure how they will do that with no extra aircraft. Unless the MEL-LHR uses the -400 from DFW. Its a nice rumour but I doubt it has much substance. |
