Rumour out that JHAS announced today that they are downsizing again.
|
Hangar or line?
|
Downsizing is it?
Down size what? There's hardly anyone left. Edit required - Hardly any workers left. Still plenty of managers. |
Is this due to Jetstar leaving or are Virgin further reducing?
|
Check Fin Review from last Monday. $7M annual loss (admitted to), contracts going going gone, Jetstar work finishing up, VA have pulled wheels and brakes, plus there's a whole lot more the Fin didn't report.
Absolutely ridiculous position for a facility of that calibre to be in. |
Sorry, meant to add link. Subscriber only for the main part but the snippet gives most of the important info. When you consider they start the next year without any major contracts in place you have to wonder wtf they are doing...
JHAS losses |

For those of you left behind in melbourne hangar, best of luck tonite. Hope jetstar hasnt scheduled an c check and 5 extra aircraft with major defects, all to be done before 6 am departure.
Hope you manage to secure full time employment in aviation else where. Pretty slim with the 1000 odd qantas guys already out there. Its a shame poor management and bean counters looking to save a buck have driven this aviation industry into the ground. Take yourtime tonite and go home on time, dont bust anything for another cheap operator and a management team who dont give a **** about nightshift. |
A small reprive going around...Ad-hoc work for Jetstar for a small time..Virgin "make-up" work ..
|
Small reprieve ? Soon there may be no-one to do the work........
Heard redundancies are in process....... :hmm:  |
What the hell is going on in that place. I recently rang up to get a work reference, not one single person in the personnel dept that day. I knew it was a mickey mouse operation but this takes the biscuit.
|
You heard right CF6JETBLAST. Another round of redundancies last night. At what point do the regulators step in and determine the minimum number required to carry our or service the contracts that they have signed up to. There can't be many left now. Still plenty of managers though.
|
The regulators will step in when one of the left over "YES MEN" signs for 4 times the amount of task you could possibly do in a shift and an aircraft has an inflight emergency. Self regulation is an amazing thing.
|
For a company like JHAS, self regulation is like giving a vampire the keys to the blood bank!
|
3 of JHAS' current Line Maintenance customers (foreign operators servicing multiple Aussie ports) have heard the reports of their situation, and to ensure their own operational integrity have requested draft proposals from other providers to handle their MX. If things don't pick up, these operators will probably jump ship anyway.
|
I'm sure there will be at least one company waiting in the wings to lap up any work that JHAS may potentially lose.
@Torqueman, do you mean redundancies or resignations? would find it hard to believe that they would offer so many redundancies with the work still going on. |
They have had a flood of resignations, but they also made a few dozen redundant last night as well.
No doubt operators being serviced by JHAS will be getting contingencies in order. |
Having spent time there a few years back, I must say the morale was on the floor and the turnaround of staff would make your head spin.
