John Holland Aviation announcement

Rumour circulating that JHAS is to announce something significant to its workers tomorrow (Tuesday). Anyone able to shed some light on what it is?

VBA Engineer 14th May 2012 19:54

Loss of the Tiger work? Going to BAe.

Loss of the Jetstar work? Going to QF MEL hangar as part of QF shuffle

Loss of the Virgin work? Frustrated with continual damage, errors and late deliveries.

Maybe all three.

Where's Romulus when you need him?

Romulus 15th May 2012 01:41

Haven't been working for/with JHAS since about 2007.

Not too hard to guess though.

Jethro Gibbs 15th May 2012 02:11

Maybe they are going to fall over before the Qantas news comes out.

JHAS news followed by QF announcement.Dead of Aircraft Maintenance jobs in Australia

limelight 15th May 2012 05:08

Maybe news of a linkup with ST Aero, maybe someone can see the possibilities?

A320skoda 15th May 2012 05:12

Siaec to buy 49%.

Sonny Hammond 15th May 2012 05:40

Closing down altogether as 'new' aircraft don't need maintenance for 20 years*.

*According to those in the know in the upper echelons at QF.

aintsaying 15th May 2012 06:55

So what was the announcement?
Anyone actually know what the announcement was?

genxfrog 15th May 2012 11:15

Announcement now scheduled for later this week apparently. Looks like situation in dire straits at JHAS and parent company not too happy. Retrenchments, sale, closure, watch this space.

woollcott 15th May 2012 23:21

So, lets just say JHAS close - Would QF management be smart enough to buy all the hangars/facilities?

What an opportunity!!!

Mind you, I have no faith in QF management what so ever.

They were of course offered the chance to buy the lot post Ansett for approx
1 mill - a real bargain, but none of them had the foresight / brains...........

SRM 16th May 2012 00:13

There is another operator that could use the facility ?

The Golden Rivet 16th May 2012 00:39

So Qantas is about to close one HM facility only to purchase another one next door?

The facility is probably way to big anyway for Virgin, although im sure theyll grab the old 767/330 sized hanger at the end if it could be split? Maybe our friends across the ditch might chip in as well?

Bit early to make judgement on JHAS though.... :bored:

genxfrog 16th May 2012 08:28

Lost close to $2 mill last month??

woollcott 16th May 2012 23:53

........the point I was making is that QF could combine both its existing facility and the JH facility to make a "Super facility" capable of servicing the entire fleet - wide body, narrow body etc etc.
Huge infrastructure, with all docking, stores, workshops, amenities etc etc all in one place.....an amazing chance to combine all and even attract customer work at a great price.

Pity it will never happen...................

QF could combine both its existing facility and the JH facility to make a "Super facility" capable of servicing the entire fleet
Q should.

But this is not about flying or fixing planes. It's about bashing unions. It's about winding up legacy operations, culling staff, investing in shelf companies and casualising a workforce.

And still calling Australia home. Feel the spirit?

Wellwellwell 17th May 2012 04:17

Am I the only one who gets annoyed when someone starts talking about Qantas in an unrelated thread......please people, if you must always gravitate to Qantas stick to the threads on Qantas.

PPRuNeUser0198 17th May 2012 09:19

John Holland is not closing down.

TBM-Legend 17th May 2012 22:05

so what's with the 'fender bender' there the other day? Understand long faces at JetStar/Virgin...
