It is very easy to criticise. And even easier to criticise those in power. But seriously ! The liberals will make the rich richer and us the working people the new working poor. I do not have all the answers , but those selfish boys club self serving libs have no answers that will serve our future , our families future s or our nations future . The carbon tax is a progressive smart tax. An increased mining tax which benefits everyone makes sense. Allowing gay marriage makes sense. Abbot is a moron. A well meaning moron probably.

Can the multitude of Labor and greens haters here privately mull over the fact that Labor has massive balls in attempting to enact such a massive tax reform in the carbon tax. A carbon tax which Labor knows could loose it the next election , and a tax the CEO of Boeing applauded PM Gillard for introducing. And for having the balls to take on a mining industry hellbent on spending millions of dollars so they can keep the spoils of our precious nation for themselves , rather than letting us have funds for vital services such as hospitals.

Is anyone awake and paying any attention at all here ?

Frank Arouet 18th Apr 2012 10:41

No, lost on me.

Oh, and I'm not paying any attention to left wing rants. If I need self self induced physical and mental torment, I'll watch the ALP propaganda show. (ABC I think it's still called).

"Your ABC".

Out of curiosity, what do you think of Christine Miln's vision for Sydney airports?

teresa green 18th Apr 2012 10:53

Does she have one Frank. I mean after all aircraft are dirty fuel guzzling things, that pollute the sky, the only time the Greens would acknowledge such creatures is when they need to fly, then they are a necessity, well for a short time anyway. What a bunch of F$##wits.

teresa green 18th Apr 2012 10:56

LHLisa, if you really believe that crap, do I have a deal for you. Its a harbour Bridge that is for sale, going cheap. And it comes with steak knives. Get in touch.

LHLisa 18th Apr 2012 11:11

I am in touch and thank you for asking. A lot of people do care about the future of Australia, and it's people be they black , white, an overseas minority group, homosexual, nonsexual, heterosexual, or female. A lot of people are also passionate about protecting our precious environment. The EU carbon tax is a progressive tax which has challenged china and other economies which are not as progressive in their environmental protection policies as we are. And that is a really really good thing for all of us. The last time I checked we all share planet earth . And the last time I checked her resources are being stretched to the limit by rampant capitalism and greed. Hi Liberal supporters :)

LHLisa 18th Apr 2012 11:31

Personal insults aside - new research shows that drinking alcohol increases problem solving ability by 30 % . See that could be the solution. All of us , regardless of our political persuasion , have a drink together and work it out together. As per the cold play song , that would be paradise.

Frank Arouet 19th Apr 2012 00:27

drinking alcohol increases problem solving ability by 30 %
I'm glad we can agree on that.

Now what?

Jack Ranga 19th Apr 2012 01:03

I don't know about that? I've made some pretty poor decisions where alcohol is involved..........

It is a good friend however, and all good friends tend to have their own weaknesses.

That was quite the rant Lisa, in my experience it will do you no good to rant, while it feels good at the time you are papering over the cracks :ok:

And when it comes to politicians I'm wondering how you can tell the difference between any of the visionless morons?

Tidbinbilla 19th Apr 2012 03:47

Let's get back on topic, thanks: Albanese and Sydney Airport.

Aimpoint 19th Apr 2012 03:56

And the last time I checked her resources are being stretched to the limit by
rampant capitalism and greed. Hi Liberal supporters
Now I get why LHLisa wants to get rid of seniority - she's a socialist!

Share the wealth huh?

Frank Arouet 19th Apr 2012 04:35

Ah, yes. Albo and Sydney airport. Doing nothing.

If Abbott and whoever is the next Minister for things like Airports does nothing he will get a shellacking from people like me as well. Truss would certainly cop it.

Thing is, Abbott is not the encumbant government Prime Minister and The NSW government can only sign off on something the Fed's put up.

Gets back to Gillards mob unfortunately.

drinking alcohol increases problem solving ability by 30 %
So thats now an established fact, just what do we do with this information and how can we make things happen that suit us all?

limelight 19th Apr 2012 06:05

100km limit.

From the history files:

"Taildragger67

If one believes the SMH, Macquarie Bank is having enough trouble with its infrastructure subsidiaries at the moment that it could barely afford to re-pave the disabled car park, let alone throw down another strip. They will:

a. squeeze everything they can out of YSSY without spending... you think BAA running EGLL into the ground was bad...;

b. use their pre-emption right to halt any development of a 'major' airport within 100km of YSSY, so as to maximise revenue flowing through that asset."

Don't ask who gave that little gem to Mac Bank, may just be the reason why everyone is hedging around, because if a new Sydney was developed within 100km, it would just be an extension of the current monopoly.

Anthony Albanese

Anthony Albanese is Labor's Parliamentary go-to man, a bloke with willingness and enthusiasm for fronting up – whether at the Dispatch Box, to protesters or even in backing a losing leadership candidate. But his underappreciated infrastructure funding legacy will last longer than his ability to fire up at opponents.
Despite the powerbroker label, Albanese has an abominable record in Labor leadership ballots, having backed the wrong candidate repeatedly since 2003. The most recent, in March, when he backed Kevin Rudd and offered his resignation to Julia Gillard, was taken in full knowledge he'd be backing a losing cause. But his emotional explanation for his support for the former Prime Minister was in sharp contrast to the firebombing that Gillard supporters were engaged in. Albanese emerged, remarkably, with his reputation enhanced.
As Albanese noted at the time of the leadership spill, he fronts up. He fronted up last year when a crowd of anti-carbon tax protesters besieged his office. Albanese went out, endured their abuse for 20 minutes and welcomed them to "the multicultural heart of Australia," words likely to infuriate the old reactionaries in attendance
Anthony Albanese is Labor's Parliamentary go-to man, hmm. :bored: God give me strength.

Sydney the land of the holding pattern, speed reduction, max speed , vector's to buggery and back, downwind leg for 25 that take's you almost to NZ, slot times and don't forget the curfew!!!

New airport in Sydney, not likely to much corruption, too many nimbies, too many latte sipping 4 wheel driving city greens, no political party would have the balls to see it through! Imagine the palms being greased in local council, state government, federal government, consultants, pr people and every other spiv!

Maybe the new PM Christine "NO MILLS" Milne will get in and make it green policy to build a new Sydney Airport to be named the Robert "Bob" Brown International Airport for All Australians whether you are green, pink, homo or hetro, milf, tree hugger, illegal immigrant, minority group or a taxpayer like me!

SeldomFixit 19th Apr 2012 23:50

Limelight - your 100 KLM exclusion zone is a far more important little gem than Joe Public would imagine. Don't forget - Governments, as much as the " winning the next election" public face may suggest, think 50 years ahead. It doesn't matter if the Government of the day is black, white or brindle - Government as an institution DOES work to long term plans. Sadly, in the case of Australia, Government is often populated by sheltered workshop dropouts, who wouldn't know the Southern Aurora was up their fundamental orifices, until it blew it's whistle.
The reserved greenbelt for the M5 existed in the late 1950's and whilst it took many, many tears to (half) build it, built it was.

Talk of high speed rail between Sydney and Can't Berra has recently been uttered by Albo and while the naysayers poo poo it, it would be foolish to discount it as a serious part of the Government 50 year planning.

The next International Airport built in Australia will be at Goulburn, servicing both Sydney and Can't Berra via a high speed rail link.

You read it here first. :)

Now it's Albo v Max Moore-Wilton - clash over plane delays

Airport and Albanese clash over plane delays

SYDNEY Airport has blamed delays in planes arriving and departing on government constraints rather than its own ability to meet rising demand from airlines and passengers.
Upping the ante in the war of words with the federal Transport Minister, Anthony Albanese, Sydney Airport management sought to ''set the record straight'' over the need for a second airport, telling shareholders at its annual meeting yesterday that 39 per cent of landing slots were unused.
But a shareholder accused it of having ''misrepresented the facts'' because the unused slots were off-peak times when people did not want to travel.

''It is simply not accurate for people to be told that Sydney Airport has the capacity to provide the service to the flying public that you are suggesting,'' the shareholder said. ''There needs to be some openness in this … we are being delayed at Sydney Airport. The airport is crowded.''
The airport's chairman, Max Moore-Wilton, said government constraints - such as the cap of 80 aircraft movements an hour - were among the main reasons for delays.

''That is a completely artificial constraint imposed by government,'' he said of the cap. ''We are not misrepresenting the facts. Even with the peak periods we still have slots available.'

It appears MM-W has come out swinging whilst Albo continues to duck and dive anything that may make sense... :E

Blockla 18th May 2012 11:05

Max the Axe is always right.:}

Flow rates are artificially manipulated by LTOP (noise sharing) modes and movement caps.

However, Max is surely not suggesting that the 39% is in the peak period, even though it's implied for the weak of mind.

If he is suggesting that, it would make SY more 'efficient' than LHR, which it could never be with the current ground infrastructure and design (layout) issues including the shorter runway.

The reality of politics from both sides is a decision to allow KSA to be utilised correctly will cost lots of votes, long term votes. I don't see either side doing anything to make KSA be used as it could be. And most know that.

Even the airlines are starting to get behind a new bit of tar. It will cost short term votes elsewhere because it will in itself generate jobs, votes and lots of construction/development. The long term loser will be SACL and Max knows that! I'm sure he is posturing to ensure they get the rights to own the new development, and if they do then I suspect the new project will never be what it could be.

A corporate CBA would never stack up as it's not replacing the existing infrastructure e.g. Berlin/Bangkok etc; not to mention the costs airlines would need to invest on their individual spends. So it has significant public money, and where does that come from? Bring on 2025 before a real decision is made.

Of course if the movement rates were reduced even more, the CBAs would start to stack up...:}:}:}
