Merged: Jetstar and the A380

I have just heard that the JPC has been asked to subit a variation to the new EBA from 'narrow body-wide body' to include a T&C variation of 'wide body dual deck' type aircaft..
And the pain keeps coming. Apparently the ammendment is due to be submitted by November 1st. When is the A380 due for delivery (to QF/JQ) now after the delay's?

international hog driver 1st Sep 2006 11:52

Didn't we see this coming!

I believe it will happen, it looks like all the Australian pilots get to reap what they have sewn over the past few years.

And I do mean all, with all the elasticity of QF Mainline, the conditions of what the original returnees to DJ accepted, what the JPC negotiated
What was pushed onto the NJS guys..... no progression from QF regionals.

Need I say more.

LH, SQ are going to introduce the dugong onto the world as the pride of the fleet and then pornstar are going to demonstrate that you have all been had by the worlds best management

I now truly am glad I left Oz, after being shafted by those protecting their little empires I saw the writing on the wall.

How the wheel turns, unfortunately the people who created the conditions will be long gone while the rest of you face the rough end of the pineapple!

RIP crew conditions in Oz

Fascinating posts. Really. Why is a variation to the CA required? Is the 380 not a 'widebody'? I bet it is. This rumour is rubbish, but interesting never the less. Who thinks the 380 will ever be operated under anything even remotely resembling the current LHCA? I don't. What would YOU do? I reckon I'd offer AWAs. How about the 787? Think it will ever see a QF LHCA? Not on your life. The JPC is just fantastic. Really, they're great. Just ask them.....

Hasn't there been noise (almost from day one) that EK might run some all-cattle dugongs?

Yeah they have, but where are they going to find the crews?

A mate of mine here in Europe with a shed load of 737 time has just gone there as DEC 777, this is not a joke.

Reciently (last few weeks at least) it has been quoted in the aviation media that if EK cant fill (fill or crew is a "grey area") all 45 of their Dugong's then they will lease them to other operators......

Do you really want to arrive at Mascot at 0600 with 850 of your favorite "Mick's & Sharon's" who have sunburn, hangovers and are wingeing about having to pay for a VB and a pillow.

I reckon the AFP are going to get some really good footage for Australias funniest home videos at the immigration cue's!

Maybe it could be called BoganStar we can replace Magda with Uncle Arthur?

Getting back on subject, why bother to vary an EBA when the bird is going to be so late that it will be subject to an AWA shoved down your throat by the poison leprechaun.

Z Force 1st Sep 2006 21:54

Three have been set aside for Jetstar.

Pete Conrad 1st Sep 2006 23:54

They can now be the lowest paid A380 drivers in the world...seems odd, their last EBA had no scope in it for further negotiations with respect to aircraft type, so they either accept the A380 on current pay, or entertain an AWA.

The JPC are excellent, they have excellent negotiating skills and a fearless leader to boot. They are an upstanding mix of merry men, with high standards of humility, morals and graciousness and I have no doubt that they will set the standard of whats to come for the industry with respect to T and C's for all pilots.

murgatroid 2nd Sep 2006 00:27

This rumour is absolute rubbish.

QF want more A380's to build a premuim operation to LAX and also LHR via SIN and HKG. They want a fleet of about 20-24 that will also allow 1 or 2 other high premium high frequency ports (LHR or FRA via PVG anyone?) or another in the USA.

Anything else in the QF network is up for grabs by J* using the 787.

The 380 is the only bit of a future that QF mainline can look forward to.

If you want a real good rumour, how about J* Int being initially a wetlease by QF A330. Seems the J* T&C's can't attract many (if any) suitable applicants and also the 180 ETOPS approval may be a bit easier.

Where did ya get that info from?

Aussie

Wingspar 2nd Sep 2006 01:58

On what route in/out of Australia would justify 850 seats in the price sensitive market?
It's a niche market and GD would be better off getting the returns with premium pax!

pondoklabu 2nd Sep 2006 03:42

Oh my god !!!!!!!
When are you guys going to wake up and see this is just a big wind up for what ever reason these morons keep coming back to this, there is no way Jetstar will get the 380 if they are going to get 3 ( ZFORCE) has been boasting this number so many times since JAN 06 I have lost count.

Where the hell will they fly them, every route Jetstar has been allocated is thin at best.
They are NOT PART of their business case, you dont have to be smart to work it out...think people!!!!!! you are being wound up yet again by some small minded PPL pilot who thinks Airbus is a code word for the latest playstation 2 game.

I am sorry , I must be wrong because Joyce is planning to start new 3 times
a week 600 seats to let me see...........sunny Puket thats a great use of assets..or there is Bali.... wow!!!!! there is a real money maker or shall dixon fill them with high yeilding first and business with a stack of econemy into tight slot restricted airports ?????? you work it out.

mingalababya 2nd Sep 2006 04:25

I believe what Mike Kontoulous has to say on this, whoever he is.

Redstone 2nd Sep 2006 07:19

Well Qantas Engineering will not have anything to do with the servicing/maintainence side, so perhaps they will be crewed by J* people. Only connection to mainline will be the rat on the tail and the ammenities bags.

SYD-SIN-MEL on the BoganBus

Change at Singapore for all stops to south east asia under the Jetstar Brand and hubbing ex SIN for all the ports in Europe that QF has dropped in the last 20 years.

A380 for SIN
A330 for Europe (787 more likely by then)
A320 for Asia

Think outside the square.

The pax numbers in Asia are staggering compared to oz and the number of people that want to vist oz but are very much price dictated are huge. If they cant afford a direct flight with their national carrier then why not a short stop in SIN?

This is the big Q's ploy to get back into, multiple ports in Europe and the middle east. Once the route is good enough then watch for the silver planes to turn White and Red!

Qantas operated by Jetstar....
Qantas operated by Australian
Qantas operated by Jetconnect
Qantas operated by National Jet

Whats the difference? it might look like Qantas, have the service of Qantas (sic), but it is not Qantas.

This is the long term plan to compete with EK and SQ by offering more destinations with a lower cost base than would ever be achievable by mainline.

murgatroid 2nd Sep 2006 09:04

Hog,

The problem with your argument is that Asia to Asia travel is relatively speaking, cheap country to cheap country. It's what sustains all the budget Asian travel.

And for a huge portion of the market, it is going back home etc to visit relatives e.g. back to indo, thailand etc. It is virtually a train service operation.

The Asian dollar earnt does not go far down under. Not a size market for the A380.

international hog driver 2nd Sep 2006 10:20

Ahhh Murgie my Grasshopper, you are very wise but the market is not only the locals who can aford to do it once a year.

The parent company of my employer are moving heaven on earth into the "services for baby boomers" market, I mean billions.

Their targets are North Americans, Europeans and other wealthy retiree's who will be bored as bat sh!t after sitting home for the first 12 months and want to get out and about.

Whats better 1 big holiday and big cost or repetitive lower budget holidays??
Repetitive travelers is the market, Gee we really enjoyed XYZ lets go back and see ABC next!

Their is a massive increase in ship building and other types retirement leisure activities that are going on. If Dugong Star can provide a continous supply of visitors in Asia then why would anyone else complain.

North America is a strange one, one marketing aspect is that if Jetstar at least gets to be known in north america as a reputable carrier..... (ok ok I know) then their chances of picking up North Americans travelling intra asia are bigger.
(Ok lets say more reputable than Air Asia, Silk Airways, Lion Air, Adam Air....and countless others that no one in NA have heard of)

Dont underestimate how many seppos are pax on RYR and Easy here in Europe trying to stretch their travel dollar further.

Outside the square.

Crossbleed 2nd Sep 2006 12:24

I don't understand what is meant by this comment. Why would/should it be [a joke]?

Don't you mean rip what they've sewn?

Or sown???

Anyway I can't believe you guys are getting worked up over this. This rumour was cooked up either by some pissed pilots whinging at the bar on a layover or by management as a form of disinformation in their propaganda war against US. And some people here are swallowing it and jumping right in.

Get a grip, guys. :ok:

Keg 2nd Sep 2006 15:32

I agree with the prince of boogers on this one. Standard QF EBA negotiating tactics....frighten the troops that their flying is disappearing so they'll be happy to take crap. :suspect:

It's getting very old though! :ugh:

Pete Conrad 2nd Sep 2006 22:45

Hogs onto it, watch the red tail appear back on routes after they have been decimated by the Orange Star supository. At a lower cost base I might add.

Of course the Jetstar heros will say they are getting the A380, they have to, everything that gets said about them is positive, whereas, everything that is said about the red tail is negative so it follows that this rumour will start.
