If you are an AKL crew, then there is no point crying hard done by becasue of the 'pitiful' pay you feel you are on. That was the agreement, you knew it before you signed up, you agreed to it, get over it or leave.

There are plenty of other employers around that will work you to the bone for more money. :ugh:

I never once complained about the "pitiful" pay we were on in AKL. I simple stated that our pay scale changed when we were taken over by jetconnect and the thai crew are on a good wicket compared to alot of others (Even those that used to fly for UA & NWA were on worse basic salary).

I know i knew the conditions & payscale before joining, and i have never complained reagrding these when i was an initial...What i do complain about is getting a letter in the mail saying "Take it or leave it". Now i know we all love our jobs in AKL, and this is why alot of us stayed! What job will you see the world and have a great time whilst doing it?

I try to live life on the bright side, so if im coming across abruptly, i apologise. With life comes the good and the bad, but when you are constantly burned by a company you give your time and alot of effort to, you can sometimes lose track.

I apologise for my personal attacks at you. I have been reading this site for sometime, and some of the posts you posted were incorrect.I apologise once again, and no i have no idea whom you are within AKL, but im sure i will fly with you.

This maybe true but how many will be on a flight...
ie out of AKL last period the whole QF25 was AKL based bar the CSM/CSS...

Will they only operate Phuket Melbourne and vice versa or will they operate within the entire Jet* network...i know they will not operate to HNL as they will have a very hard time getting visas!:ugh:

just passing through Bangkok(BKK) and noticed display ad in local "Bangkok Post" for local cabin crew for Jetstar:

quote word for word:

"Jetstar Airways, a Qantas Group Airline from Australia will begin flights late this year from the east coast of Australia to international destinations in the Asia Pacific region including Bangkok, Phuket, Osaka, Ho Chi Minh City, Bali and to Honolulu. Jetstar is planning to set up a CREW base in Bangkok and has engaged Tour East (T.E.T) Ltd to recruit Thai nationals for cabin crew positions"

"as a value based airline, Jetstar will offer two classes of service for its international flights. The cabin crew will be responsible for meeting the customer service and comfort needs of passengers (no mention of safety). Crew will be rostered to be away from home for multiple nights, flying to various destinations in the international Jeststar network"

If Jetstar is a "Qantas Group Airline" then are they bound by Australian laws......

Requirements in the ad:

Female minimum 18 years old.......(not allowed under Thai Law to enter a bar until 20 so how can they serve alchohol on an AUSTRALIAN aeroplane)!!!

Male must be 21 years old and have military exemption certificates

Interviews commence near Don Muang airport(BKK) on 24 August.

Well the most probable pay will be about $7,000 Australian dollars per YEAR if they are lucky......yes thats right most probably about $7000 dollars GROSS per annum. Lets double it to $14,000 dollars a year...they will have all the staff from TG applying overnight!!!!!!

By the way, they must be a University graduate.(at 18?????)

to the current thai crew operating on qf. they get additional travel allowances but their patterns are shocking. everywhere they go they get one night. that can be e.g. bkk-lhr-sin-syd-jnb-syd-bkk or simlar tragic patterns. no wonder they leave in droves, down to 160. where is the faaa and casa on these issues?:ugh:

Thailand is a sovereign state...CASA and the FAAA have no jurisdiction there.
Maybe Australia should invade Thailand.
Further no one forces anyone to work for Jetstar.
They do so of their own volition.

QANTAS AOC is based in Australia under the authority of CASA. (sorry meant jokestar)

Example QF cannot emply chinese pilots and have them work outside the Australian F&D times requirements.

Oh yes they are and they are more restrictive in some companies than the pilot's hours

CASA have no restriction on cabin crew duty hour limits or minimum rest, they only require EP proficiency.

Its all safety related and that IS CASA's responsibility.
That is the reality of it.
CC are not only responsible for saftey of pax when there is an accident.

Have to agree with that. Thai people are great. just hope they get treated well.

Maybe if you wish really hard Dixon will sack ALL 3500 Australian cabin crew and ONLY employ Thais as obviously the 160 we employ at Qantas are the only ones that are any good.

They must have had an enormous impact given our two years running number two international airline Skytrax award.

guys keep your venom under control. argus moon paterns/FDL for cabin crew is a very important issue as i have been told most western nation have it (and i have checked the appropriate websites).i pointed out current excess patterns flown by our thai collegues as J* int. aims at a 38 hour week. take holidays out and you get 1520 (duty) hours per year. for international flying that is a big increase.
just use your rosters and work out how many hours you fly per year.

Checking out the Skytrax site shows that Qantas doesnt feature at all in the top 5 Cabin Staff results this year... unless you are of course referring to the regional group 'Australia/Pacific', where they come in behind Air Tahiti Nui (for the fourth year running).

Seems this year the top five were:
1 Thai Airways (2nd last year)
2 Qatar Airways (5th last year)
3 Malaysia Airlines (3rd last year)
4 A N A (9th last year)
5 Singapore Airlines (4th last year)
The only one to drop out of the top 5 was Asiana (1st last year)

Thanks for highlighting the Skytrax results mostie... whilst not directly applicable, they do go some way to making my 'racial profiling' point.
