Both are almost identical excepting cabin length and engine power. You could describe the 300 as a streached 200 but as the 300 came first you could also describe the 200 as a shortened 300 - Whatever takes your fancy.

Have a nice day

Also the -200 has a longer range because of the addition of a centre fuel tank. Not sure of the tanks capacity as I only fly the -300. Maybe some QF guys would like to expand on this? It is probably very similar to the A340-300.

Perhaps this is telling you to suck eggs but the -300 has more seats and lower operating costs per seat than the -200 and will better enable QF to compete with the lower cost base of Virgin Blue on domestic and regional international routes. It is a cost based decision.

If you really want to train spot,
1. Both 2 & 300 have bloody big wings (comparitive to fuselage length) & winglets.
2. Both have characteristic Airbus nose.
3. As stated the 300 is slightly longer, externally = more windows between first & second exit doors (I think 200 has 12 windows & 300 has more). Look at www.alirliners.net for more detail.

EI use both types 2-class ex DUB or SNN. -200 to LAX barely needs the centre tank apparently and is also used for some charter work. -300 does the ORD, BOS, JFK. Cargo has been keeping EI afloat and I believe the 330 is well set for it.

Snoop

As with all current large Airbuses, the aft cabin slopes upwards as you head aft. It is noticible internally & externally and, whether it's because of this, the backside shimies like a fishes AR$E!!! So much so, that the FA's are complaining of getting sick!!!

Thanks for the info guys.

I guess what im really after is some idea of what type of operation the two types are best suited to. Are they well suited to short haul domestic routes ?

Are QF going to use the 200's and 300's on different types of routes ??

As I understand it the 200's are being used domestically between the east coast capitals and cityflyer to Perth. Whats the plan for the 300's ?

Any ex Boeing drivers care to comment on what they are like to fly ??

Thanks !
