Singapore Airlines has become the third airline this month to announce increased weekly flights to Melbourne, representing a total of 6000 seats a week.
Singapore Airlines will add three Boeing 777-200 flights into Melbourne from March 31, 2003.
"Singapore Airlines is the largest carrier of people between Europe and Asia," Melbourne Airport chief executive officer Chris Barlow said.
"This makes them particularly valuable to Victoria as over 50 per cent of our total air travel is concentrated in Europe and South-East Asia."
British Airways is lifting its Boeing 747-400 flights from five to seven a week from March, 2003. Cathay Pacific is increasing its flights again on December 2 after changes on October 29.
The changes come as airport figures show Melbourne was the only Australian airport to finish the financial year recording an increase in international passenger numbers.
