Hrdlicka to leave VA
It would have to be a massive about-face for Bain to bring Scurrah back into the Virgin fold as they used him as the bait for the great Jayne bait-and-switch. Remember how the unions howled when Jayne was rumoured to be involved?
Having said that, as private equity Bain doesn't really care who is leading it as long as they can steer the ship to their payday. If Scurrah does come back, he will receive an airline in much better condition than when he took over from 'The Game Changer'. Leases are on better terms, staff conditions have been reset, the long-haul distraction is gone, and debt is much lower. And with the self-immolation that Qantas has done to its brand, all Virgin pretty much has to do is say "we are not them" and just Bradbury their way through.

The issue with a new CEO, especially one pulled from overseas, is it takes 12 months for any person to get across the business, conduct internal movements, prove to the board that everyone at the joint are a bunch of fwits and I’m here to do things right yada yada.
The thing is, Bain wants out soon, not in a few years while they wait for new blood to steady the ship. They could bite their teeth, chuck Scurrah back in, give him 2-3 months to get comfortable, and off they go. He isn’t the right person to lead this but then again, who the hell is these days.
