I don’t know about this statement that ‘the morale of Qantas pilots has never been lower’. Seems to me that morale’s taken a bit of a upswing over the last few weeks, for some reason.

Unfortunately, a Senate inquiry can't enforce attendance except for representatives of governmnt departments.
Not true. The Senate (and the House) can summons anyone it likes and order anyone it likes to appear before committees and give evidence. However, modern practice has been not to do so in respect of private citizens.
