This year, they are very slow sending out my new licence and I am then forced to ring up and get a 1 month extension, so that I can keep working as a airline Captain!! Their excuse is that they have a massive back log and the doctors can't cope. Is there any thing that I can do to force them to process my licence??. I am now on my third extension, which means that I will soon be due again for my 6 monthly medical, having not received my previous medical!!
Contact your airline's flight crew records team. They'll get in contact with AvMed and have it put to the top of the pile. That's what colleagues seem to be doing if it comes close to an extension. Issued within a couple of days.

How long will they persist with medical madness. The UK CAA is changing the whole system as numerous studies show that Pilots suffer just as many medical events as a population as the general population despite the extra medical checks. Yearly medicals, especially for multi crew’ are over the top and pure red tape.

Absolutely correct. The entire process is ludicrous and much of it is to do with $ and ass covering. A few renewals ago my ECG showed atrial fibrillation. I questioned by DAME at the time. He laughed and said...Ive been meaning to get that machine fixed. Everyone has AF according to that machine, were his exact words.
