Thought I would come to the source!, anyone know of rumours if Cobham Aviation Services has a buyer from Advent International?

Cobham are in expansion mode at present. 4 x E190’s with a further 3-5 to come at least! That’s In addition to the 2 x Q400’s for PER and 2 x Q400’s for ADL yet to be delivered. Looking at an initial fleet of 7-9 x E190’s and 7 x Q400 for PER and 2 x Q400 in ADL

Advent said from the start they typically keep companies for 3-5 years before selling them off, I’d guess they would keep them for another 18 months before looking for a buyer. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they already had a buyer.

They have just renewed some contracts and also picked up so new ones as well and seem to be picking up momentum.

Special Mission has also just renewed their contract with Borderforce for a further 6 years. It's probably a good time to sell that section of the business.

Really? Aren’t those NEW airframes just a replacement for the BAE 146 which is being retired?

Replacement is not expansion.

It’s been a long time (if ever) since they had 14 146’s in Perth.

They’ve now got 6 Q400s with 4 on the way and 4 E-Jets with more on the way.

Advent aren’t silly. They dumped the money sucking QF component of the business and value added to the special mission and charter sides. They’ll sell the business for a profit and add another successful investment to their history.

Will be interesting to see how long it takes Alliance to realise QF isn’t a friend and is there to use and abuse you.

What is the seating config of the Q400s? More frames but less seats?

Given that Qantas own 20% of Alliance I would be pretty certain friendship is not on anyones mind

The simple fact that the company is hiring new crew and picking up new contracts says it all. It's fleet expansion, not replacement.

Certainly seems like Cobham's up for sale with Macquarie Bank appointed to manage any transaction;

Cobham aviation services to be sold
