Delays in Medicals
Apparently AVMED are advising a minimum 30 day delay between Drs visit and issue of certificate for Class 1 medicals. With the CASA Exemption CASA EX57/20 ending on the 31st March this could potentially leave a significant number of pilots unable to exercise their Licence privileges.

Maybe there should have been some forward thinking and that there would be a log jam with pilots, in particular CPLs' all wanting their tickets renewed at the last minute.

I just did mine last week, having not had one for 2 years, there where no red flags, however the DAME couldn't re issue it on the spot because my last class 1 had lapsed, it was issued approx 3 hours later via email.
Perhaps this backlog is for people who have had issues? I'm not sure- but that was my experience.

If you have been using the exemption extension, the DAME is unable to grant the normal two month extension as Avmed sees it as you have already had an extension, red flags or no red flags. In fact the button to press ‘print’ on the system is blocked for the DAME by Avmed.
The only course of action is to call Avmed asap to plead to get your certificate emailed.

Has anyone recently experienced any delays in getting their Class 1 Medical certificates from CASA post medical check. My medical had expired last year due to the COVID challenges, however I done the medical today which confirmed that I’m not clinically dead.

Did my Class 1 medical early Jan 22' and have 3 weeks prior to extension running out. Have been advised by CASA last week via email that there is a 2 month delay in processing medicals. I am now slowly requiring another extension . Has anyone else been through the process of extending their extensions?

Hi Noclue,
Yes I contacted CASA a few weeks ago and they advised the 2 month delay due to backlog.
Looks like I’ll be making a phone call on Monday to extend my extension.
