AJ will be milking this pandemic for all its worth if he’s asking for further efficiencies after dumping thousands of his staff. Also he’s been gifted a virtual monopoly of regional, domestic and international when it returns. Anyone could make an amaaaaazing recovery with all that in their favour, screw efficiencies now!

Paint them white with a red tail seems to be the consensus.

What is the logic behind parking newer 787s over A330s ? Are they more expensive per seat-kilometre ?

Perhaps something to do with the absolute nightmare of reactivating 20+ year old Airbus machines. Older Airbus have enough trouble sitting on the bay overnight let alone parked for years.

I really do pity those poor engineers who have to try and get those 380s back in service.

Not unknown for leasing companies to scrap rather than reactivate.

If you have problem with any of the QF group subsidiaries, perhaps you should take it up with upper management of the Qantas group instead of calling the employees of said subsidiaries names. These employees are trying to earn a living just the same as you.

Power by the hour is the main issue, been explained many times by management.
The deal is geared to long sectors with high hours & low cycles as in 10+ hours for 1 cycle.
Domestic sectors of 10 hrs flying in 1 day could be 3 or 4 cycles.
A330 not subject to that sort of deal.

For the record I didn't think a statement made previously about the QF 787's going to the dessert before the 330's was correct.
I now admit I was wrong, to some extent.
After looking at where the aircraft are stores (787 and 330) half of the 330 fleet has been stored for 4 months at avv and the other half are operating periodically. This situation for the 330 will continue, as it makes sense.
As for the 787 Qantas has a problem, they need to store them somewhere at the moment they are in the capital cities which are expensive, I would assume, they need to do a 9+ month hibernation on them and the only place left is the desert.
If they where clever they would have parked them months ago at avv.
As for JQ787 why would you wake them up from there slumber just to send them away to have another sleep, at the moment they are at avv.

AVV is damp and right beside the sea. It is not ideal for long-term storage. The JQ 788s and the remaining QF A332s not yet moved will all need to relocate soon

Port Philip Bay would be chuffed to be called the Sea, but your point is still valid.

agreed. We are all in the same crappy situation and a little bit of unity wouldn’t go amiss
