QF Group possible Redundancy Numbers/Packages
Bang on, well said. I haven’t dialled in for a long time, there’s no new news, no good news, and nothing worth listening to, so I’ll spend the time being more productive working my ****ty casual job and/or continuing the hunt for a better one.
If people stopped dialling in, they could stand some of the corridor crawlers down and save a few SO jobs perhaps, instead of scaring them into LWOP.

The Dial in, webinars are just a way to threaten you!! it’s propaganda designed to be of detriment for pilots.
For your own health stop listening to the spin intended to frighten you and not to help you. The more you listen in the more you empower the threats!!
Here is my suggestion. Tell everyone you know not to listen in, and turn the email propaganda off. Do something useful with your time.
The company webinars and dial ins are not good for your mental health.Flying will return. Vaccines will come. A webinar won’t make a job return or flying resume.

The bigger reality QF is in worse shape now than you all want to believe sure AJ said we have this cash etc etc. Flying will not start until vaccine is readily available and when that is, is anyone’s guess won’t be this year that’s for sure. Article in The Australian today business section, from discovery of a vaccine to delivery is at least 18 months. Alliance or Network could be the next big Australian airline in a few years when it all slowly returns.
It looks like the lights are coming on. Some pretty good advice there. View it like, if they are not paying you, you have already been made redundant. After a year or two, you'll stop seeing yourself as their employee. In the mean time, things could change for the better, you might get to go back to work or receive some entitlements.
Nunc est bibendum
C’mon guys, the webinars are comedy gold! A few mates and I run a pool on how many times someone will say ‘that’s a really good question’ (when it’s clearly not), or how many times a question will be asked about keeping an iPad after VR, etc.
Bravo 👏

Tuning it will not change anything, if you dont need another job just enjoy the time off and get a hobby.
NOBODY knows when flying will resume, when a vaccine will be found, whether the Russians really do already have one etc.
I dont even believe there is a scare campaign at play, rather just a surprisingly large number of pilots looking for snippets to confirm thier own held doomsday theories.
Other than the odd exception this thread is becoming an example of otherwise intelligent people who have too much spare time on thier hands and lacking a purpose outside of thier careers.
I believe this too shall pass, but what I believe is not going to change the course of the ship.
If I wasnt able to make the most of the time off, or If I turn out to be wrong, I'd be looking for secondary work.
Eitherway, dwelling on the situation and arguing pessisimt-optimist is not going to change it. That much is a certainty.

Things are getting really desperate with revenue. They are flogging off Qantas pyjamas on the Qantas store for $25!

Now that I can look back on that it's embarrassing.
But all of that is starting to wear a little thin now. One must eventually earn an income again and that is not proving easy.
All this talk of LWOP etc is one thing but actually finding another job is a whole different matter. All this talk of "transferable pilots skills" to other industries is just corporate buzzword garbage. The reality is that most businesses see pilot on a resume and run a mile. I would strongly suggest that you consider that before making any decisions. (we didn't)
Agreed that the transferable skills are zero from a marketing of yourself point of view.
Every pilot I know who needed something in the way of work has found something, usually in an entry level causal job or working for themselves doing a variety of non skilled work.
The struggle most had was convincing an employer they were not about to walk straight out the door of thier entry level labouring job as soon as the phone rang from thier airline again - which of course they will.
Cant blame an employer for over looking them in that regard, but persistence paid off in the cases I know of and others went and became thier own boss.

Of the 188 I’m told 150 are Captains, so if that’s correct and 50 are on the 380 the question is will they let them all go or will they limit it to the numbers to crew 6 of them?

Qantas don’t do a lot of things well, but those pyjamas are pretty damn comfy!

Would you like to see my pyjamas champ?
It is a warm wash as per the instructions on a medium cycle for 30 minutes.
The paper will be published when pandemic ends.
My peers will then review and more case studies will be provided.
