QF6001

There 's currently a QF 744 reg VH-OEG partway across the Pacific en route SYD - LAX. There have been a few Air NZ repatriation flights operating AKL-YVR-FRA, returning German nationals. Can anyone confirm if QF6001 is doing the same, or is she heading for parking in the desert?

QF have confirmed they are using the 787 for their repatriation flights. Have seen supposed confirmation elsewhere that -OEG is on the way to her new owners.

Why would you expose crew to COVID19 by ferrying an aircraft to the USA?

Becasue the service is essential. The crew, on the other hand, is expendable. Or at least that’s the feeling I got entering a hotel housing 300 quarantined passengers from the US where everyone (except us) was masked and gloved.

A Kenyan Airlines captain died two days after doing a repatriation flight from the US.

He got sick 5 days after the flight and died 2 days later. He'd been to Italy the trip before, and spent 2 days layover in New York on his final one. He tested negative several times up until the time he presented at the hospital, where he was positive. He was also 63, so in the higher risk group. Maybe "senior" pilots shouldn't be flying?
