Vale Captain Gavin Lee
It is my sad duty to report the loss of fellow aviator and good friend Captain Gavin Lee who succumbed quietly to a long and heroic battle with illness two days ago with his wife by his side.
Those of you who knew him would remember his gentlemanly manner, quiet achiever personality and the capable and friendly way he carried himself.
Talair pilot who was well respected by his peers and loved by those who’s lives he touched.
A truly sad loss of a great friend.
Blue skies old pal... travel easy.

Sad to hear, I knew Gavin whilst I was in POM during the mid '80's. What direction did Gavin take when he left PNG ?

Gav returned from UK after a stint over there and took a LHS with Jetconnect based AKL. Finished off his home built in AKL and bought a Bach at Waihi Beach as well as a home a Maraetai Beach.
He retired some years ago but will be sadly missed. Stap isi old m8

Gavin was one of the good guys who I was fortunate to have known for around 40 years in PNG and Asia. Easy going, nothing was ever a hassle.
Had a coldie and shed a small tear on your departure. Fair skies, see you on the other side Wantok.

I found some pics taken at SPAC, mid 80's, a good night of drinking, Gav was having a chat with the late Pete Leaman, Pete sadly passed in the crash of the MU-2 near Bowral, NSW, shortly after joining the company.

Don,
I sent you a PM to let you know when I am next in MEL I'll dig the photo's out. Most likely around January. I have made a note in my diary, I won't forget.
