Pax punched Emirates crew inflight, pax not arrested

I'm not sure why this man wasn't arrested? There have been other pax who have abused crew in the past, and they've been arrested, jailed.

Big man hitting a woman eh?

"personal circumstances"? What the hell could get you out of jail for air rage and assault, particularly on a woman? Great example to set for his kid

I'll bet he was someone of some importance in the UAE.

If you have the right connections you're above the law. Feds wouldn't be able to do anything unless the airline made a complaint. That wouldn't happen if this guys connected.

Don't know this for sure of course. But if the assault happened as described by an Australian passenger they wouldn't have gotten away with it.

What's the bet he is an Emirati. Hostie will probably need to apologise for getting her face in the way of his fist.

Apparently the passenger is a deaf man with a (physical or mental) disability.

Also unconfirmed reports that he's a French national.

Lastly it's not clear if he actually "punched" the FA one or more times, as she was not injured and did not need any medical attention.

From the article.
“The Federal Police were called and met the plane on arrival to assess the situation. After this assessment it was agreed that the passenger would meet their connecting flight onto Auckland and did so with no issues. The health and safety of our crew and passengers is of paramount importance.
The health and safety of the crew can't be too important.
I'm getting a bit fed up of these platitudes from management!
He should have been arrested! End of story!

Might have been a different outcome had the flight been going TO Dubai not FROM.

If I remember correctly, it requires someone (passenger or crew) to make a formal written complaint to the police on arrival, otherwise the offender walks.

What I am wondering is, since he wasn't charged with anything, can he now sue for being unlawfully restrained?
