NSW Govt funds

The caveat is that the current Government gets re-elected in March. Not necessarily guaranteed.

When you look at the "opposition" you reckon it must be close to one!

Narrabri suddenly gets its security screening....
It is a sad sign of the times.
Not picking on you HL but can someone tell me how security screening helps improve safety on a night DME arrival engine inop?
Statistically remote some non-rated accounted might say.

Very much tied to projects directly related to tourism infrastructure so no new toys like Papi's I don't think. Might free up some cash already borrowed for terminal and apron upgrades though, so all in all a welcome injection to a lot of struggling airports who haven't benefitted from FIFO dollars. Might even keep the fees down for a year or 2 in some places.

What's the bet $40M of it will go on new signage advising airport users, that $50M is being spent on regional airports?

$50million, that's sure to go fare just ask the NZ regional airports

Didn't HLZ spend around 40million just on its terminal upgrade an couple years back?.

You will probably see the 50million go towards provide sesonal Intl services to the Northern Coast Airports

Precisely!

As for whether or not it is actually delivered is another thing. However, at least the announcement has been made.

There was a TV show a few months back showing how the system works
Stage One - The announcement with fanfare - nothing actually happens
Stage Two - Some time later announcing who gets it - nothing actually happens
Stage Three - Announcement of planned work - nothing actually happens
Stage Four - Call for tenders - nothing actually happens
Stage Five - Announcement of winning tenders - nothing actually happens
Stage Six - A long time goes by - nothing actually happens
Change of Govt occurs
Stage One - Return to the top to repeat process

No doubt it will follow roughly what Victoria did last year (prior to the Union goons winning the last election there).

The $$ injections went far and wide to regional airports for basic infrastructure upgrades/enhancements like apron/Rwy repairs, airport fencing (some 'roo proofing), minor terminal enhancements and the like.

It's been a very long time since any NSW Govt invested in something like this so take it with both hands!

Happy Landings

Throwing all cynicism aside, I can see brand-new 'Visitor Information Centres' at each of the 30 or so regional airports.

Gaily decorated kiosks, with racks of self-service brochures extolling the virtues of the local tourist-traps and craft-shops.

There, y'see. Money well spent.
