Qantas Management take the credit for the high NPS & customer satisfaction.

A service the frontline staff provide.

However, management blame everything & everyone else for the company financial position.

A function they are responsible for.

Great Crew

The only thing holding QF together are the front line people, crew, engineers and people in operational roles at the coal face.

They are continually mopping up on a daily even hourly basis for the inept lunacy that is the 'current' QF management.

They all do a brilliant job under what has been a number of years of insane decisions.

Take loos out, increase seating rows, reduce crew compliments, reduce allowances, shove crew in Disneyland to 'rest' and load bare minimum catering.

How many silk purses can be made out of a sows ear?

Bring up the name Qantas to a neighbour, a stranger in passing or wherever. The first thing mentioned is how management need to go and how QF used to be excellent until 'that Irish ' got a hold of it.

Shame QF 'management' shame.

Angel

Wish I had a $1 for the number of times a passenger has complimented the crew and followed up with 'if only we could get rid of that Irish idiot CEO'. I'd be comfortably well off.

I was SLF on yesterday's QF9. Before taxying at Dubai, the CAPT announced a delay due to a checked in bag with no matching pax on board having to be removed. In the current Middle East environment, his cool, balanced, informative and pragmatic manner eased many pax. It's people like him that reinforce my faith in QF. CAPT O'Toole, I dips me lid!

Its not that he's Irish...

...its that he is an Irish joke. Joyce does not have an Irish accent in fact, he has an Irish speech impediment. I lived in Dublin for a year and never heard a Paddy parody done the way Joyce speaks normally. The man is a walking embarassment to any who would claim him.

That said, allow me to also point out that Australia proudly owes much of our make-up to the Irish. There just happens to be that one that we would be delighted to repatriate, post paid.

Ah well

Pity he is an Aussie citizen then, means he passed the tests ! Got the Queens passport for Australia, on a more serious note is it really just down to him and his team that the still good airline QF is struggling? No one wants anything other than QF to grow again , even the wee Aussie AJ !

Some DXB-LHR A380 flights to be cancelled

Qantas cancels A380 flights due to weak demand

Why isn't the airline flying an A330 from Perth to Dubai, and then on to London if demand for A380 is so weak? Surely then the SYD or MEL A380 can turn around and be deployed elsewhere. They are fairly full to DXB from SYD/MEL, they just can't sustain that much capacity as everyone hops across to EK for their other destinations.

There seems to be plenty of pi$$ed off West Coast Freq Flyers who would rather support the Roo instead of EK,EY,QR or SQ to get to Europe.

Spot on QFBUSBOY, I thought this was in the pipeline at some point?

Flights PER-DXB are generally full, particularly in the premium classes, the decision to drop all international operations ex Perth has upset plenty of premium West Australian QF frequent flyers.

PER - DXB direct would be a struggle in a 330 would it not?

Pity QF didn't have some tripplers!

An A330 can do PER-DXB easily. QR and EY have both used A332s on services between PER and their respective hubs.

Regarding QF international ops out of Perth, agree they should have an A332 doing Perth Dubai Perth, and should have negotiated that with Emirates as part of the deal so not too much capacity!
Also assuming a 738 could fly Perth to Singapore?,
then why didnt Qantas replace the A333 to Singapore with a 738, and at least maintain a presence internationally out of Perth, and allow those passenegers who want to fly Qantas the opportunity to do so?

Not to put too much emphasis on tea leaves...

...but, I have heard:

1. That they are looking at again (after ensuring that route start-up costs are maximized) considering PER-SIN, and indeed the rumour is 738s.

and

2. I note the addition of Diego Garcia to the list of approved A330 alternates. Now that might be actual forward planning or it might be a cynical exercise to create a frisson and hopeful speculation among the troops. Like I am doing right now

When the "Stolen Generation" are returned one would hope they will be doing "some" international flying especially given reports that AJs pissing contest with JB is now over

Though doing the maths with 2x 332's being removed from the fleet and the noted comments from AJ about returning to India and exploring new Asian markets (notably Korea and additional capacity to mainland China) one would assume as the capacity for PER reduces we'll see movement. Infact, crunching a few numbers for the 332's they'll be doing 65-70% int flying at a guess?

They would make an absolute killing if they could get rights to do MEL/SYD - MAA/BOM/DEL - DXB

EK can't get more seats out of India so it'd be a win-win for the alliance.

I guess given we are selling the Indians our uranium now this wouldn't be impossible.

Try not to get too excited...

...as Qantas has repeatedly said, it will not get new routes or planes until it makes a profit without them. Its a kind of Zen thing, i guess.

Joyce has ditched many profitable routes in the past few years...every route that they try to restart will have more drag in the market. Once you win passengers' loyalty then abandon them you do not get them back. We had India before, and PER internationals and Aukland-LAX. And robust European routes.

They ditched all of that and replaced them with....new uniforms.
