QF Pilot Pay

If I were a "layman" and I were handed a pilot pay document, I would expect to see:

Annual Salary: (x) For Captain/FO/SO increased with CPI annually
Overtime: (x) For Hours flown above a threshold say (80 per month) based on the annual salary divided into an hourly rate.
Allowances: Aust Govt amount converted into local currency
Annual Leave: 6 weeks
Sick Leave: 15 days per year + URTI
Training: 10 percent more
Training and Checking: 15 percent more
Management: 20 percent more

This is a lot simpler than a 504 page doorstop.

The public isn't going to understand how a SO can make more than an FO perhaps even an EJET Captain with overtime and seniority bidding. The public isn't going to understand that their are career SO's making more than specialist doctors. The public isn't going to understand why QF pilots are paid more than Jetstar pilots. If 8/10 people are leaving the country on foreign carriers, I guess their also not concerned about foreign crews flying them around as long as they meet the standard. I fear the public could actually "blame" you.

Could I get some insight into these points without creating a bunfight? This is not a wind up.

Ever operated a long sector?

How many people have 16-18hours as a 'normal' working day?

How many people are in charge of 400-odd people's lives at a body clock time of around 3-4am when they have been awake for 24 hours - possibly with combination aircraft defects that make things exponentially more complex?

When do most workers start earning overtime?

How many people who don't fly even understand what I am asking?

To the rest of the world OH&S (or whatever they call it this week) is about putting yellow stickers on desks with sharp corners. Unfortunately crew have to deal with really dangerous things - that the twits running the place cannot even comprehend when it is explained very carefully to them.

1. I am not a Qantas pilot.

2. Are you saying that the current situation is caused by tech crew pay?

3. Yes, SOs are paid a lot relative to the role and other tech crew positions, however this is the agreement that was voted on and accepted by both parties so why should they be denied that? For me, they hold the last candle for tech crew pay and conditions.

4. Why does it matter what the public thinks? The airline is not a government. The public is generally a demanding, spoilt child when it comes to their knowledge in aviation and what they think airfares should be.

I'm not a twit and have thousand of hours piloting Jet transport aircraft domestically and internationally.

I have asked the question on behalf of the "layman".

Good luck explaining your situation to the media if you can't here because you will look like John Hewson with that birthday cake.

There are no "duty times" for medical staff.

Some hospitals have emergency staff working 48 hours straight.

Not saying its fair - but it is fact.

Smile

Please desist from starting any further pointless threads, crystalballwannabe. Almost every thread you have started fits into an existing thread.

That's all I have to say about that.
