It appears that when it comes to 'announcements' JHAS has the same approach as Qantas......delay, delay, delay. How long can JHAS hide the obvious. The GM bailed out 3 weeks ago, losing $$$$$ monthly since it took over from the Ansett Administrators, unhappy workforce with unworkable rosters, no sustainable long term ongoing maintenance contracts, current contracts delivering financial losses, unwillingness to sever the traditional John Holland construction industry mentallity and failing to engage us employees who know more about the industry than they ever will.

JHAS is never going to do any good as long as they are run by a non-aircraft manager and employ the dead wood of Australian Aviation. And to further expand, the dead wood of European aviation with the 457 Visa.
The whole 457 Visa system used in the Australian aviation industry is fed! It's used as a piss poor excuse for not spending any money on training local employees. The sooner this charade is exposed, the better.

JHAS
Deadwood of Australian Aviation ........bit harsh i feel-there are some very experience guys there who are very good at their job! As for the 457's, well you are certainly right there! These guys were brought in because of the lack of available A330 LAME's in Oz - yet due to the useless HR dept some of them are still here despite numerous complaints by their colleague's of how useless they are! Anything above a turn round and they're running away!!!
Some have been promoted into managerial positions and therefore allowing for their foreign revolution friends to get plumb jobs elsewhere in the business! The government should be stepping in here especially seeing as the QF boys across the road are now looking for jobs.
As for JHAS going - well according to the senior management they are going nowhere, not being sold & not going into partnership with anyone (shame)! How long the Leighton Holdings/John Holland group put up with the losses is anyone's guess.
As for these continuing bingles - having spoke to other colleague's in other airlines it's no different, just that JHAS being an MRO gets them highlighted!

Yertiz, I didn't say they only employ dead wood or that all staff are dead wood. I said they employ dead wood. I personally know a few of the best engineers I have ever had the pleasure to work with/for are at JHAS. They can't do every aircraft or every job!

In seriousness though, has this supposed announcement occurred yet? The silence is deafening as they say...

Still no announcement as such - all that they said was an announcement to stave off the rumours from elsewhere.
Fair play empire, misread what you had said and you are so right, the good engineers can't do every job. I'm all for giving guys a fair crack and giving them a chance, but some of them can hardly speak English, now that is scary!

90% of the boys and girls expect JHAS to loose its contracts and lay everyone off. Announcements will be in the form of ID cards not working at the security gate when you turn up to work.
Management has no idea about what actually happens on the floor, they still think nightshift just sits around all night doing nothing and only completing 2 or 3 task cards per person a shift. Just like day shifts supposedly.
Lots of job ads posted on lockers and walls now. I think a lot of time is spent looking for work else where now.
General expectations of an announcement is late August to mid Sept.

JHAS Redundancies
JHAS is about to embark on another round of redundancies in Melbourne. Tip is its anywhere between 30 to 50 personell. Is the writing on the wall?
AMSA will be handling overnight layovers for Tiger aircraft in Brisbane soon too.
How is it though, that an employment agency called me to see if I was interested in working for JHAS in either SYD or MEL? What's going on?
