Virgin's PR Person
Olivia Wirth is generally doing a poor job for Qantas as its PR person.
Uninformed,poorly presented and not particulalrly articulate.
The PR person for Virgin on the other hand is well presented personable vibrant and informed.
This exposes one of the essential differences between QF and VB.
Qantas is tired and bland.While VB is Fresh and Vibrant.
Also watched Borghetti on Lateline last night.Now there is a man who is enjoying what he is doing and delighted in the results of his planning and hard work.
The VB workforce are engaged as a result of being treated fairly and with repect

I watched an interview of John Borghetti on Bloomberg this afternoon. He seemed articulate, eloquent, and inspired confidence as a leader (yes I do work for him).
I've seen Alan Joyce publicly speaking alot over the past few weeks. He is nothing of the sort. He comes across as quite plain (bordering on stupid - even though, I understand, he's quite an intelligent man). He does not inspire confidence. I cannot understand why a company like Qantas chooses him as their "leader".

IMHO chosen as Cliffords man to take on the unions and change the workplace forever. (see Cliffords roll at Rio)
Hence the big pay rise as the stock price has plunged.
He will go once the dust (for want of a stronger word) settles (before or just after the next AGM) and phase 2 kicks in.
Of course there will be a huge multi million dollar parachute with him......again (see Dixon's roll at Qantas)

In Rumsfeldt speak Joyce was chosen because he was a known known.His journey from Aer Lingus to Ansett to Jetstar meant he had no afiliations or connection to Qantas.In short he wasn't "tainted" by the Qantas culture.
Joyce is a somewhat shy man and is by nature compliant.A perfect Laurel to Clifford's Hardy.Dixon's early exit was at Clifford's behest.Two alpha chimps in the one camp doesn't work.
Joyce didnt make the decison to ground the fleet.Clifford did.Clifford's inflated sense of self has already vindicated the decision.Only yes men remain at Qantas.Alan Milne is a perfect example.Its also the reason Borghetti,Lindeman and others are elsewhere

It would be interesting to see the wage comparsion between the two spokespersons. I think OW would somehow shy away from that question.
On another note, in today's AFR it had a article about a recent speech JB gave to the Israeli/Aus chamber of commerce. He was able to point out that half of QF strategist's were present in the room. Seems to prove they let the wrong guy go.

If we are talking about the same PR spokeswoman, the one I watched on tellie the day after the grounding, she; the VA spokesperson was VERY ordinary. Her entire performance was punctuated with "you know", "ummm" and "arrr". Nothing annoys me more than people trying to convey their product or point of view then ending EVERYTHING with "you know". No, I/we don't!!!!!!
OW, as much as she tells porkies, or only what she is allowed to tell; talks with much more authority and professionalism.

One thing I wish Joyce would do with his extra bonus millions is find a damn good dentist and fixed those bloody teeth of his. Every time he talks I cant stand to look or listen to him, at least with good teeth I might pay a little attention.

Seems to be a bit of thread drift, but I suspect the PP pack mentality is getting carried away.
DJ spokesperson is delightful well presented and on top of the issues, what else do you need? She also has another attribute that others seem to lack....credibility.

I think there should be photo's put up of various airlines bonnet emblems, just so we can compare them

Honestly who actually cares? Unless of course this was just another thinly disguised 'we despise QF mgt' threads. I think pilots have too much time on their hands if they can spend their time making personal remarks about hairstyles and speech patterns of other employees. I wonder how you would all take to intense scrutiny of your on the job performance complete with running commentary on the internet.
I have to be honest and say that some measure of professionalism is seriously lacking in the pilot community if PPRUNE is anything to go by. You don't need to blame your union reps Or mgt for trashing your public image, the comments made on here are enough to make any member of the public unsympathetic towards you.

When QF32 happened, which station was it that superimposed the Indonesians holding up the cowl showing the Red Rat in the background behind OW saying something that there was no information to suggest a QF A/C had been involved in an accident?
