Oh dear. The wheels have fallen off the A330 project friends.
Last week we twice failed the evacuation demonstration and the regulator was not happy. Also we are well behind schedule in every aspect of the project and the launch date of the aircraft will now likely be June or July. JB and Sean are furious with the project team managers and are threatening "the door" if things are not fixed. Again it is the legacy of old has-beens still employed at Virgin that are causing the mess, managers who cannot manage. JB and Sean are yet to realise that more incompetent managers need to go now. Engineering is an absolute mess and a massive amount of outstanding issues with CASA exist which will likely threaten ongoing expansions if not fixed soon.
A comment from the safety department the other day sums up when a well placed individual said this, "how the hell can we get this widebody project off the ground, we don't know how to manage a project, fix our present systems, analyse problems safely or even operate large aircraft types in the first place, we totally lack expereince and knowledge" .
A bit concerning.

Nice windup chinstrap. I have heard nothing through appropriate channels nor grapevine.
Even if true, you are not the employee that JB or SD would want, coming onto a public forum and blurting out issues.
Me thinks you were overlooked and for very good reason.
We already have enough emeratee on the 777 thanks.

Safety concerns may delay Virgin Blue A330 services - Wings Down Under
Last week one of the aircraft's crew failed a line check, a formal test of airmanship measured against regulations, and previously failed an evacuation test, according to sources familiar with the matter. Although the carrier's crew and aircraft will be given opportunities to redress the lapses, such re-evaluations can delay certification and approval to fly the aircraft.

The Evolutionary laws of irreducible complexity would suggest that it's coincidentally impossible for these two separate articles (chinstrap and horton) to be exactly the same and exist in parallel, unless they were either constructed by the same person or share a common originating (written) source.
Perhaps Horton hears a who. Who is chinstrap.

Very poor form chinstrap, not only did you post company sensitive information on here a public forum, it would appear you or your "mate" ETOPS180 went to the media with your information.
I hope that the appropriate resources are brought to bare on you both and appropriate action taken.
VB (sic) does not need employees like you two trying to bring them down from the inside.
Maybe all those years flying in the HOT desert have fried your brain(s).

Rumour has it that Strategic A330 will be wet leased/chartered until they receive CASA approval.
I wouldn't worry about Virgin aircraft looking too much like Qantas.
I think the plan is to have all Qantas aircraft painted in Jetstar colours soon enough, Virgin will have the only red and white a/c soon enough....

What about Strategic pilots flying the VB A330s (sort of ACMI) until VB receive their AOC?
I am sure SA could use another hull for coverage

MASTEMA,
That would require a change to SA's AOC adding the 2 A330's.
VB have more than enough pilots ready to go, with some approaching their 6 month sim check.
VB have an AOC and have held it since 2000. Since then they added the Ejets to it and are now adding the A330.

Not here for a fight old chap.
Usually CASA requires a new AOC to be issued when a new type is added (please correct me if I am wrong)
That would make the original VB AOC not vaild whereas, the SA AOC already covers the A330.
Just offering an opinion.

Ouch
Managers p....
Guessing you're a LAME gone CASA.
Do you have a CASA reference (CAO, CAR, CAAP, etc) or recent experience to enlighten we; the lowly, unwashed aviators beneath you?
