Virgin Australia it is!
There was talk of qf going back into the Gold Coast a while back, but AJ won't put his j* services at risk, my bet is star class or whatever they call it on domestic flights. There is in seat IFE on all the new QF 738's that are starting to come online Australia domestic.
Virgin interior looks great, exterior ordinary. Didn't JB uses the same guy that updated the QANTAS livery a few years ago? All he did there was move the roo's foot.

Im really liking the new livery... elegant, sophisticated. Would be cool if they couldve incoporated the silver flag from the rear fuselage on the VA 777. But all in all I think its a good step forward!
I think the tv ad is fantastic. Well done to virgin. Also a nice acknowledgement in the advertising today of the important part front line staff are. I wonder what message Joyce received today when he cracked open his fortune cookie this morning......Perhaps used by date 1962!
Whilst somewhat underwhelmed by the new livery, I must admit that it certainly carries some style - no doubt as per the brief from JB to HH.
However, I can't understand why the new corporate logo (above) retains the orientation of the word "Virgin" on the fin as it appeared in the old livery and seems to ignore the new livery. The branding does not appear consistent, but muddled.

I still think that it is bizarre naming an airline after a person who has never had sex. Why they did not fork out for the Ansett name is beyond me.
The history behind the virgin name and branding is well documented and whilst Sir Richard holds a 26% and revenue from the use of the Virgin name, it was always going to be named as such.
Maybe they purchased the Ansett name, so no one else could use it?

I don't have strong opinions on the new scheme either way (maybe that's telling in itself) but I wish they'd done something else with the engines. Either have them white (silver, whatever we're saying the fuselage colour is) or red. The silly red stripe around the cowling just looks to me like un-stowed thrust reversers.

PS: that wasn't a rant at you, AoA, but at QF 767 (alleged) C class
PPS: QF Platinum Card but let's see what Virgin do......I wonder if they'll accept my FF points

Qantas have only had the Australian business class monopoly since Ansett's demise. Before that there were two products and a lot of corporate types were very loyal to Ansett's business class. When they went guts up there was only one premium product available, so that's where they went.
As mentioned earlier I know one normally business class flyer who recently enjoyed flying with Virgin in their current economy class. He was a former Ansett premium customer and has never liked Qantas much, but that has been the only option since 2001 for people who want big seats, unlimited whiskey and FF points. I can't imagine he's the only former Ansett loyalist who'd be happy to try a different premium airline if Virgin can make it look attractive and offer enough lurks and perks to compete with Qantas.
Either way, 'twill be interesting.

No offence taken, I guess I didnt make a good comparison as the 767 screens as you say are pathetic, but they are the same screens and same system as the A380, Panasonic system, crystal clear and take up around 80% the width of the back of the seat. They crap all over even the 747 screens in longhaul. I have heard a total of 11 of these new birds coming this into early next year (VH registered), will sure beat the hell out of those 400's from a pax point of view.

Had a look around inside the DJ A330 today. I like!
Outside, ummm.
The front office is showing its age, what year model are they?

Thanks 1a
When are the new aircraft due to arrive?
Recuiting is rumoured to resume in June. Seems a chance that FOs with Airbus experience will be employed directly onto the A330?
I also heard that they will be returning to Phuket sooner rather than later.
