FlyDubai downunder roadshow

I see in latest Pacific Wings or Aviation news, can't remember which or might be both, that FlyDubai are on a recruiting roadshow to NZ (and I assume Oz)

Do you think they'll find many takers?

I would not be surprised if quite a few from Qantas went for an interview, probably some JetStar guys will turn up as well!

You would be a fool to leave an established Australian airline for a low cost Arab airline.

I remember disgruntled VB Capts left for EK. Some still have not upgraded. Stupid. Pi$$ poor professional due diligence....

I don't think many pilots, of any Australian Airline, would suddenly put their hand up for an interview, just because these dudes are in town.

A pilot who has been considering this company would have already applied or had interviews or are now working for them.

I looked at the original offer from Fly Dubai and have now compared it to the current offer which is much worse. So obviously they have no problem getting pilots or they would not have lowered the T&C's.They are still on a race to the bottom whilst ever people will accept these conditions.

I've got a mate who left Virgin about three years ago as an F/O and is now doing his command upgrade on the triple.

Might be worth a look for an older F/O who's at the back end of the seniority list, with little expansion in QF and a possible ten year wait for an upgrade, options need to be considered.

With reasonable experience already, promotion should be rapid. After a couple of years in the left seat things open up considerably as long as you are prepared to remain overseas.

Different matter if your upgrade is likely in the next couple of years or you're early twenties and don't mind the wait.

Just wait for a while?

Why would anyone jump for it now when all the Middle East is in turmoil? Yes, I know Dubai is 'stable', but the domino effect is underway, if it's not a democracy, beware.

Hasten slowly..

Thumbs down flybyebye....

http://www.pprune.org/middle-east/43...selection.html

I don't think there will be any takers.. maybe 1 or 2 who are desperate enough....

FlyDubai want to charge you for the first stage of selection, about 150 GBP according to that thread.. that makes it about $300 NZD. Thats a lot of milk and butter...

Then they want to bond you for $24000 USD over 3 years..

And then they want you to fly into Kabul, probably via the FLAK 1A arrival followed the the Closer-Encounter-With-A-SAM Departure.... in something that is akin to a fat bus with a huge ar$e..... and with probably no countermeasures what so ever...

Not to mention that quite a bit of their flying is back of the clock too, in an aircraft that doesn't have a crew rest nor a 3rd crew member...

But wait... you have to have been:

a) Already Type Rated on the NG

b) 500 hrs experience on the NG...

before even applying!!! So whats with the bond!!!?!

If you already met those requirements, to apply to FlyDubai, you'd either have to be out of a job (yeah ok, a jobs a job) or completely stupid to leave a job here flying the same aircraft around NZ/Oz... and if you did have that sort of experience, why the heck wouldn't you apply to Emirates/Etihad or Qatar instead, where you will get slightly better conditions, a crew rest and wide body time...

I think FlyDubai are taking the pi$$.....

Besides, have you seen the price of milk and butter in Dubai!?!

Couldn't agree more.

Flydubai need to not bother coming to Australia. That package is pitiful.

The 500 on type makes me wonder if they have a comedian in their ranks.

I can understand if you are flying a SAABa and want to get onto the 73 ok but who is going to leave a jet job in oz to fly on a arab LCC. The idea of going to the middle east is exactly the opposite to the LCC idea.

guys look at the bigger picture... forget going from a 'saab' to a 73..., or time to command.. f&^%^ that!, that means nothing compared to a decent lifestyle and government.Trust me once you have driven these motorways, gone thru 4-5 Ramadan's and lived exclusively inside due to 50 degree heat,( watching your own health deteriorate), put up with increased living costs, constant uncertainty, and 100's of other negatives i'm sure you'll dream of going back to having a vegetable garden, mowing the lawns,( milk your own cow) , checking the surf reports, paying a few taxes and taking a pay cut to drive a rust bucket, have semi reliable social systems in a more a stable environment!.
I guess we all have different priorities in life dependent on age, ego, martial status etc etc but please think very carefully of any spouse's/children, long term employment plans and stability before you commit to what you may want for 'yourself' now.
nothing is always as it seems...

all ways outbound.

Right on the money Outbound, not sure about Dubai which I know is zero tax, but in HKG you get absolutely all for your 16% tax as an expat, public medical-crap, public school - crap, local gov sponsored pools, gyms, kids stuff - non existant, you do however get enough pollution to put Phar Lap into an iron lung and live in one of the most crowded, expensive cities in the world.

Stay home ! 30% tax ( average ) is a bargain.

anyone thinking of Flydubai is foolish, as previously stated points

flying is mainly back of the clock, rostering terrible
2 pay scales.. already!!!
bond for typed pilots is ridiculous
dubai not the greatest place to live, would rather pay tax!!
not to many positives unless your unemployed and need a job.
Quick progression yes but then where - bottom of the list somewhere else!!

choice ey

I am not going to get into it in public, but anyone considering this PM me for "an Insight" into Flydubai.

By the way, I will only respond to serious questions, I will not get into "bitch" slapping...Will leave that to the likes of HKF, who left OZ for better or worse!
